Hello everyone,

I'm planning to replace my old Polk CS245i by either the VP100 or VP150. My question is : is the VP150 worth the extra 175$ CND ?

Here's my setup :

- Room size : 12' X 14'
- Receiver : Yamaha RX-V657
- Front : M22ti
- Sub : HSU STF-2

Thx in advance

For that room size, the VP100 should be fine. If any of the following are true, you might want to go with VP150 :

1. You are sitting as far back from the speakers as the room allows, ie speakers are on one wall and sofa is against the other wall. There are no hard and fast numbers but if you are approaching 10-12' away from the center channel then I would go VP150.

2. You like to play really loud and the M22s are only barely keeping up with your SPL requirements.

3. You expect to move into a larger room with larger mains at some point in the next few years.

4. You have a tendency to come down with upgradeitis and long for the next model up even though what you have is working perfectly fine

Just to add one more possibility to John's excellent list:

It is reported by some that the 150 has a wider dispersion than the 100.

I haven't heard a 100 and therefore certainly haven't done a comparison of the two. But my way of thinking is that out of necessity, sometimes people in a smaller room have to sit more off-axis than in a large room due to furniture placement issues.

FWIW, I have a 150 in my 13' square room (albeit mated to 60s) and have no regrets choosing the 150.
