i aam looking at denon3805,3806 pioneer, yamaha and rotel.

can i hear some opinions on which one you like and why.
thanks
Which new speakers did you choose again ? I'm asking because not all of the receivers are known to be happy driving 4 ohm loads at high power.
m60, vp 150,ep 500, qs8
which receiver has the best value? which is easiet to use?
which is hardest to use? best overall features aand power?
thanks
I can only talk about the denon's, because I was looking at those too. The main difference between the 3806 and 3805 is the 3806 has 2xhdmi inputs and XM radio ready. If those aren't important to you, you can get a great deal on the 3805. (As low as $750 new)

i would seriously read all the Denon posts regarding difficulty with setups of those systems...and make sure you are up to it first

which yamaha, which pioneer

What speakers?

Generally, Denon, Yamaha, Pioneer basically comes down to features, and some sound difference

Rotel, I have no experience with it, would love to try it though, and its basically more respectable with power and handling 4 ohm loads like the m80's. Supposed to have a nice clear brighter sound.

If you are driving anything less then m80's, any of the rest will do. But, that being said, the 3805/3806, and Yamaha 4600 will handle the 80's just fine as well. See, not a very straight forward answer. Even some of the pioneers could handle the m80's in the right room.

Room size? Music taste? How "loud"?

room size is 12 x 19
mostly home theater 90/10
classic rock
i am lloking at the other receivers in the same price range ans the 3805/3806
i don't listen to music too loud but when i watch movies i like it a little louder. not sure what db.
i have on order m60, vp150 ep500 and qs8
should i go with the m80
thanks
I have the m60's in a bigger room than yours with the Denon 2805 and it is plenty loud, especially for movies. Unless you like insane volumes, you probably don't need the m80's

The M80's and M60's are very similar, the M80's just can go louder, not to say the M60's could not make you go deaf
In your 12 x 19 room. Are you seated facing the 12 or 19 wall?
will be watching tv the long way via two rows of seats.
how do you like your m80's and ep500?
<<will be watching tv the long way via two rows of seats.>>

If the difference in money is not a problem, buy the 80's now. Your upgradeitis won't be as bad.

I started with 60's and moved up to 80's because I could, not because I had too! The 60's are great speakers. The 80's play louder and IMHO a little better at low volume as well.

The EP500 is totally awesome! Your whole house will be rumbling and anything loose will rattle. I love mine but I do have upgradeitis for an EP600.
Are you going 5.1 or 7.1?
ordered one pair of qs8 but the room will be prewired for 7.1. i might ordered another pair soon.
The Qs8's are great surrounds. My room is the same size but I face the long wall so I have no room for 7.1.

I sent you a PM.
looks like i will be going with the 3805. since the release of the 3806 the price of the 3805 has gone down. it is such a great value i can't seem to pass it up. i don't think i need the new features of the 3806 yet. maybe next year i will get the 3806 and used the 3805 for the living room or the 3807 by then. it never ends.

thanks for all the input
Sounds like a good plan, unless there is something really spiffy in the 3806. When the HK 635 came out the prices dropped on 630s, so I picked up an HK630 for about 30% less than normal. Still expensive relative to US prices but I'm happy.
