Hello to all,

I just recently purchased my Ht speakers from Axiom:M60ti,Qs8 and VP150.Im using my RX-V2400 as a Pre-amp,B&K AV6000 II as amp and a JBL E250P as sub(need save some money for a sub, maybe a EP500).I have a medium size music room and listening 60% on stereo mode.
At the moment i'm directing all the low frequency to the sub set LFE-on and all speakers to "small". I will also set the cross-over to 60Hz.
My question is since in Yamaha i only have one cross-over setting on the menu which i believe is main speakers to sub, what about the center and the surround speakers.I believe the there is a pre-set cross-over if set to small but what is it?I already tried posting same question on other Forum but i didn't got a clear answer.
Hopefully some guys here also might have a similar set-up as mine and can give me some information base on their experience.

Thanks in advance,
Noel

As far as I know the same crossover frequency is used for mains, center and surrounds, ie the frequency you set is not "mains to sub" only.

I don't remember what choices you have but IMO 60 Hz is too low for the VP150 and QS8. Something in the 80-90 Hz range seems to be the best compromise.

BTW the "single crossover frequency" restriction is not unique to Yamaha. Most receivers work the same way, with the exception of Harman Kardon and some separates.

Hi Noel,

I agree with Bridgman on both counts. I'm surprised that Yamaha doesn't give you more options in choosing the crossover frequency. Generally, 80 Hz is considered almost a default setting; and it's what THX specifies.

The 80-Hz crossover betters suits the response curves of the Axiom center channel and surround speakers.

Hello Alan and Bridgman,

Thanks a lot for the information, i wasn't bothered at all with the setting at first although your right 60Hz is to low.Only when i saw the cross-over setting from my friend, a Rotel RSP-1098 where he can actually set cross-over on each speakers made me think what could the setting be on my Yamaha.

Again thanks a lot and more success to the Forum.
