Ok guys, I recently got my Axiom system. I got the M50ti towers, QS4 surrounds, VP100 Center, and EP 175 Sub which I have all ready decided to upgrade and go with the EP 350.

My question now is, which is the next upgrade I should make while im still in my 30 day try out phase with Axiom. I was thinking of upgrading the M50t towers to the M60t's but brent at axiom told me that after the Sub the next most improtant upgrade would be the center speaker.

What are your guys thoughts.

By the way, I love my new system. I watched Saving Private Ryan the other day and was blown away. The reason I upgraded the sub was because I was able to hear a little rattle of the driver on the scene in I-robot when those big vehicles are comming out in the tunnel.

Thanks for any help.

P.S. I will post pics tommorow after my new sub gets here.

By the way, I dont listen to any music on my system. This is a Home Theater system only. Just thought I should tell you so you can make a better judgement in what I should upgrade to. Thanks

any help?

You may want to give it more than an hour and a half...

Patience, patience. Not everyone is around all the time, so it might take a few hours to get a response or two.

You seem to be satisfied with your system right now, other than the sub which you are planning to upgrade anyway. You don't necessarily need to upgrade anything else. If you can't resist scratching the upgrade itch, then your room size has a lot to do with what you should try next. How big is the room your speakers are in?

Room is about average sized. About 15x15 feet.

What's your budget?

Well, what are the options here?

1. M50 to M60
2. VP100 to VP150
3. QS4 to QS8

Are those the choices, or are there other things you are considering?

I have only heard my Axiom system, so I can't really give you more than hearsay. Sorry.

Personally, I went with the QS8's because I never wanted to wonder "what if?" and because I thought I would appreciate their slightly lower bass extension. I do not regret my choice, although I do not have the benefit of having compared them to the QS4's.

For HT ONLY (what is your music system like?), I don't think you would find much benefit in option #1. I do wonder about those that seem to have difficulty properly placing a VP150, so if you are currently "satisfied" with the center channel, I might not mess with it.

Hey Tom.

I dont listen to music much so that why I said its just for home theater. I didnt mean to imply that I have a different set just for music.

As for my question. I was just asking for home theater purposes, with my room size and my current system what the most important upgrade would be if you had to upgrade. I have already upgraded the sub, so besides that which would be next?

I can hear the VP100 just wanted to know what the difference would be if I went with the 150. Would it just be louder or would it be clearer?

Sorry for all the questions. Im new at this.

Instead of starting a new thread I figure I will just ask this here. I have my M50 towers set at Large on my reciever and the center and surrounds set at small. I have heard a few people set there towers at small also. Is there any benefit to this? Thanks

The VP150 would not necessarily be either louder or clearer; a lot would depend upon not only the setup but also your room and your listening habits.

Having your mains set to "small" funnels all the output below a certain frequency to the sub. Lots of people like this idea because it theoretically gives you more "headroom" (available power) from your receiver. Some other people find that with a relatively high crossover (like the typical 80Hz), they can more easily "localize" sounds at the subwoofer, which can be annoying. If you are running your mains as large, it is possible that you are generating a bit of a bump between ~50Hz and 80Hz; the frequencies that are being delivered by BOTH the sub and the mains. Some of it depends upon how your receiver handles such things. Try it both ways and decide for yourself.

Personally, I listen to music quite a bit and found that the M60's enhanced my enjoyment quite a bit. There are also legions of loyal M50 fans. Really, if you're just itching to send Axiom some more money during your trial period, you can't go "wrong". I think the sub upgrade is clearly more important than the other things. If you're happy with the M50's and don't anticipate listening to a lot of music in the future, I would get the QS8's. Personal opinion only. Worth price charged. No warranties expressed or implied. Use at your own risk. Contents may be hot.

Legions being, oh, 3.

New, other than the sub, I'd doubt that you really need to replace anything, but if you must, I suppose that you should get the M60s. Yes, also set your M50s "small" with probably an 80Hz crossover, to remove some of the lowest bass burden from the mains(and their amps)and allow them and the sub to handle what each does best.

What is the major difference between the M50's and M60's for Home Theater use? Are the M60's louder or clearer? Thanks for the help.
