To match with these??? Suggestions please....oh Axiom newbie here.
Alex
The general recommendation is a receiver from Harman Kardon, Denon or NAD since those brands tend to work reliably with the 4 ohm load presented by the M80s.
While you don't strictly NEED a lot of power to drive M80s most people match the 80s with a reasonably powerful receiver or amp, so for HK maybe the 435 or higher, Denon 2805 or higher, not sure what the current NAD models are.
Between those three brands, you would normally choose based on other things like specific features you were interested in, whether you liked the interface and remote control, what brands your local retailers carried, and even trivial things like looks.
Thanks for your reply. I have been reading, reading and reading and the Yamaha RXV 4600 looks to be a very nice candidate.
Just note that some Yammy's have gone into protection mode when driving 4ohm speakers.
Welcome Alex.
I really feel that I get the most out of my 80s with a separate amp. They will run on a Denon 3805 with 120watts published.
All of this IMHO!
Do do have a budget?
... or Rotel receivers. Rotel is an entry level to High-end audio and you get get RSX-1056 receiver for a little over 1K. (msrp USD 1300).

Do YOU have a budget?
Sorry, I have the flu.
I run four M80ti's with my Denon 3805. The Denon has no problems with the 4-ohm speakers, even though the manual refers only to 6 and 8-ohm speakers.
Richie,
I am the same a you I run (4) M80ti's (1) Vp 150 and (4) QS8 with a Denon 3803 all at the same time and no problem at all.
Koiman:
That's a nice 9 speaker system! I think later this year I will get two QS8's and turn my 5.1 system into a 7.1 system and use all seven channels of the Denon 3805. How do you power the 9 speakers in your setup? Isn't the Denon 3803 a 7.1 channel amp? BTW I am really impressed that the Denon 3805 can drive four 4-ohm and one 6-ohm speakers and not break a sweat!
Richie,
I have the A and B channels set so i can run all nine speakers at the same time when set to A & B channels or I can run only the A set or B set in the 7.1 mode. I hope you understand what I am saying.

I have a budget, but it is enough to get some faily good stuff. As I said I have been READING and have junked the YAMI idea and bought the Denon 3805. Axiom was nice enough to send me samples of the speaker outside colors/finishes and now it's all about ordering the M80's and VP150 to start. Oh Boy I can't wait to hear these babies!!!
OK....It is official, just completed the order for my M80's and VP150 in Mansfield Beech. Can't wait to get them!!!
That'll be a great-sounding setup, Alex. If you ordered regular stock you might get them Friday. If you ordered factory outlet for the 10% discount, even that might take a bit less than the 3 weeks.
Friday would be great! I didn not get them from the Factory Outlet, didn't want to wait.
Koiman:
I read the Denon 3805 manual, and I know that you can use both A and B speakers. But that gives you 7 speakers. How do you send power to the 8th and 9th speakers? I assume you have them plugged into the Surr.Back/MultiZone jacks. If you assign the unused amps. to the Back speakers, does that mean that the A and B speakers (4 speakers) are being powered by only 2 channels?
Alex:
Good luck! You will like the M80ti speakers!
Richie,
Yes you are correct you are using only 2 channels for the four A & B speakers. It is really nice through to be able to run either the QS8's the M80ti's or all in combination. When playing SACD or DVD-A I usually use the 4 m80ti's plus the VP 150 when watching TV or a movie I usually run them all.

Lee:
Thanks for the clarification! Now I will have to add 4 QS8 speakers to my wish list! I am sure I will be happier with a 9.1 channel (rather than 7.1 channel) system! :-)
Thanks Richie, Axiom emailed me they were shipped this morning FED EX and I should have them on Friday.....Hey that's Friday the 13th......dooooahhhhh! LOL!
Lee:
Where did you place the M3 and M22 speakers? Just curious. If and when I move from my current 5.1 system to a 7.1 or 9.1 system, I will have think carefully about which new speakers to buy. I am sure I will get two QS8's. But the other two?
Richie,
I have a pair of M3ti's in my computer room being ran through a Bottlehead Foreplay Tube Pre Amp. and a Yamaha DSP 1000 SS Power amp. and the m22ti's are a being used with a Cayin TA-30 35 watt Tube Amp with a M & K subwoofer. They both sound sweet.

Lee:
Tube amps are an entirely 'new' species for me. But I would like to try them out sometime. Can you recommend any reasonably priced two channel tube amps? My knowledge of tube amps is limited to the ones I see in Stereophile magazine.
Richie,
When I started into tubes I went to the Bottlehead.com site and purchased a foreplay preamp kit and hooked it up to my SS amp and you get the best of both worlds. Tube on the front and SS on the back. Check the site out the kit's are simple to put build.

Lee:
Thanks for the info about the tube amps.
