I just ordered M60ti and VP150. Can you guys suggest the best receiver for these speakers.

The M60's are very easy to drive. Being an 8ohm design, they will sound good with most AVR's. Can you give us an idea on your budget? It really boils down to options of the AVR. Denon's are a very nice match and have lots of bells and whistles, but some find them hard to figure out. Onkyo, Yamaha, Pioneer are a few others that are popular.

I am looking at Yamaha rxv2500, denon avr 3805 or Harmon Kardon dpr 2005. Please suggest which would be the best or any receiver outside these. How are pioneer receivers? what model do you suggest.

First of all, what is your budget? That may narrow down your choices a lot.

I would go with the HK over the Yamaha. I guess that is just my personal preference based on what I think I know. Keep in mind momma always said I was a half bubble off plumb.

i would say NAD t773.. possibly.. i have the processor that is pretty much the same thing as the 773 with out the built in amps, and its a very nice unit... you really should specify how much your looking to spend.. Below 5000$? if you don’t really have a budget i would look at the NAD masters series stuff, that is VERY nice, and is designed to compete with the ultra high end HT gear.. Another company no one has mentioned is marantz

Dan, I assume his budget is the same as the models he listed. I asked the same question and he replied with models he was considering.

out of the 3 you listed i would say the Yamaha.. had a buddy who had a yamaha reciever andhe freaking loved it, couldn't say enough good stuff about it, i almost bough a Yamaha, due to the how much he liked his..

if you trying to stick with in the same price range, all the manufactur's are going to be about equal, look for the product that has the options that "you" want, i would advice getting the fewest options that you need as possible, dont get one because it has 30different modes of surround sound, get the one that has the better processing, even if it only has mabe 3 modes.. you will enjoy those 3 modes, way more than you ever would the 27 modes of the other, that didnt sound as good...

hope this makes sense, and mabe even helps you chose your product..

I'm using the M60s with a Yamaha RXV1400 receiver, and have been very happy with the sound. It's an HT setup with a VP150 and QS8s and M2s for 7.1 surround, and an SVS 20-39 PCI cylinder sub.

The sound is fantastic - no complaints at all. I've especially been enjoying more and more SACD and DVDA surround recordings. I just picked up Steely Dan's Gaucho and it bowled me over.

The current version of the Yamaha is the RXV1600 (recently released) which has HDMI switching, so I may get that for a couple of HDMI sources that I currently have to switch at the display. I'll definitely stay with the Yamaha, though.

I have the Yamaha RX-V557 (90 watts per channel) and it powers the M22's great. I even think the RX-V557 would have no trouble powering the M60's at reasonable levels. I can BLAST my M22's, no distortion. An RX-V1600 or 1500/1400 will power it well.

I really like the Yamaha line of receivers

I've got the Yamaha RXV657 and love it. It does fine with the 60s @ 90wpc. Personally I would like more headroom but my ears keep asking me "why"??

Is it just me, or does anyone else notice when newbies ask a question, but then seem to disapear into the twilight zone?

As a newbie I may disappear, but not before deciding on speakers to go with the Denon 3805 I just purchased last evening!

I think it's to be expected, Randy. Most who come here are just looking for a little info to help them make a decision. Once that decision is made, there are only a few who are as addicted to this hobby and the internet as we, and who can stomach the cadre of miscreants who populate this place, seeing past our warts and moles, and perceiving the sweet, wonderful gems we are beneath the harsh and forbidding exteriors.

You know, every time I see that avatar, I think, "Damn, that's a huge hat!"

I upgraded?? to a Denon about a year ago. I find that for some reason I miss my ex-Yamaha.

Welcome.

Congrats on your purchase. I use my 3805as a pre/pro to drive M80s. I started with M60s and was very pleased. I bought the 80s because I could. The 3805 will drive both speakers without amps.

For what it is worth, I have been using the 3805 as a pre/pro with my M60s for about 6 months. I have been very happy with the combination. Outside of the manual, I don't have any complaints with the 3805.

I have recently bought the Yamaha RX-V2500 (only $600) and has a very good manual and is pretty noob friendly interface.

It pushes my M60ti with no problems what so ever.
