well i'm about to take the plunge, i plan on this set up m60's qs8 and either the vp100 or vp150 , im worried that since the vp150 is 6 ohm and the m60 is 8 ohm this will create a tone difference when sound effects pan across the front of my sound stage, my other concern is the vp100 will be too small for the other speakers
please advise
Impedance will not create a tone difference. You may have to adjust the individual speaker levels through your receiver, though.

I don't have any of the speakers mentioned and can't comment on the sound. Don't worry, others will chime in.

Oops, almost forgot--welcome to the boards, zest!
I also have neither, or have even heard either the 100 or the 150, but as much as those who have the VP100 really love them, I can think of two reasons why I would go with the VP150.

The 150 has no optional "upgraditis" feature, and the 150 is a bit closer to the standard Axiom 80hz crossover-to-the-sub point.

And yeah.....welcome!....and I guess the 150 "sounds" a little bigger, too, or so I've heard.
The input impedance (ohms) really has nothing to do with the tonal quality.
The tonal balance between the two is reported to be pretty much identical. The main issue seems to be how far you will be sitting from the center -- if it's a compact arrangement (say 8-10 feet) then VP100 is fine, but if your seating distance is getting up into the 12+ foot range then VP150. The difference is ability to play loudly and clearly more than the timbre of the sound you get.
Welcome zest. Either the VP100 or VP150 will sound fine with the M60s. Please understand that no horizontal center channel will sound exactly like a floorstanding speaker. The different sized enclosures ensure that. The only way to guarantee a perfect match is to use the exact same speaker in all three positions. However, rest assured that pans across the M60s and VP150, or VP100, will be flawless.

And, don't be dismayed by how different the speakers sound, including the QS8s, when you run test tones (pink noise) through them when calibrating your system. That difference will not correlate to a significant difference when normal source material (movies, music) is being reproduced by the speakers. Many things, including that size difference, cause that difference in the way the pink noise sounds. In fact, due to the difference in surfaces near my two main speakers, when running test tones, my left main speaker sounds different from my right front speaker, and they are identical. With normal source material, I notice no difference whatsoever.

The primary difference between the two center channel speakers is that the VP150 is designed for larger rooms. It will play louder and has a slightly wider dispersion area. In a small to medium room, the VP100 will do fine.

If you'll give us an idea of the size of your room (LxWxH), and the configuration of your seating arrangement (i.e. approximately how far from the center channel people will be sitting, and how far off to the sides people will be sitting) we may be able to give you a suggestion as to which center might work best for you.

thanks for all the great reply's, my room is 12W /24L with 7.8 foot ceiling , the tv will be at the 12 foot end, the sitting position will be around 12 feet from the tv, it sounds like i will be needing the vp150, is this correct, also what sub do you suggest for this layout, keeping in mind this setup will be used mostly for movies

The EP 600 of course . What's your budget for a sub?
When it comes to a sub, if your budget allows, I'd second Wid's recommendation of an EP600 or EP500. I have the 500 and am very pleased with it. The 500 would suffice in a room your size, but that doesn't mean the 600 would be overkill. If either of those bust the bank, you might check out SVS, or HSU, or Rocket, or Outlaw. They all make competent subwoofers.
Either center will do fine for that room, a lot depends on your budget. In regards to the sub, again what is your budget. I previously had the EP350 and my room is a lot bigger than yours, almost 900 Sq Ft, and the 350 did a fine job. I recently upgraded to a EP500 to help with the bigger space. Also, keep in mind you can order from the factory outlet to get the additional 10%, and if you order 5 or more speakers, you get 5% more.

welcome...
