So after a month in boxes I finally broke out my Axiom 7.1 system, Powered by a Denon 4306.
2xM80
4xQS8
1xVP150
1xEP350
I'm not an audiophile, but I love music. The sound coming out of these components is absolutely phenomenal. My total cost for the receiver, speakers, Denon 2910S and about a thousand dollars for cabling and installation came out to $7k. What a fantastic deal. Anybody in Santa Barbara, CA who would like to hear, please PM.

So glad, after only being able to look at the boxes for a month, you finally got to listen. Even MORE glad that you are enjoying what you're hearing. Pics, please, if possible.

Congrats on the new additions!
Congrats. The M80's are superb. Make sure that the placement is right, they have terrific imging and stage.
Hey Congratulations on your fine set-up!!! Santa Barbara, CA??? I grew up in SB, lived there from 1960 until 1997. Have you lived there long? Whats your age? Just wondering if I know you?
Congratulations! The speakers will sound even better after a month or so. Enjoy!
Yep your brain will break-in to the sound, not the speakers.
The only time you can conclusively say a speaker is breaking in is when you catch it jimmying the lock on your neighbor's car.
Hey Richie, comments on "breaking in" are not quite welcomed here, I don't know if you have noticed it already.
Well, when the guy that designs and sells the speakers says that there is no break-in period, I have a tendency to believe him over subjective opinions over days, weeks or months...
It will be very interesting to have a link of any piece of written interview on "break in" from Ian (I would assume he is the designer of Axioms).
However, I have read in many occasions very specific instructions on break in period from well-known speaker manufacturers (B&W for example). Not to mention electronics.
Well, there's an advantage to a manufacturer telling you this. If you're a little unsure of your satisfaction, being told "wait a month or two" has advantages from the manufacturer's point of view. I've seen the link to Ian's comments previously.... let me do a search.
Thyname:
I have noticed that "break in" and "bi-amping" are controversial topics on this forum! :-)
I have read about the "break in" period for both amplifiers and speakers in other places. I assume it is not all fiction! :-)
Let's get ready to RRRRUUUMBBBBLLLLLE!
Dan dan da nat nat nat na! Dan dan da nat nat nat na!
Haven't found Ian's post yet, but here's one from
Alan in the meantime.
The concept of a significant(i.e. longer than the testing that took place at the factory)"break-in" period for speakers or electronics being required has no factual basis and blind listening has failed to support subjective claims made regarding it. The report published in
Audioholics is of interest.
where did you get your 4306? looking for a good vender and price.
