Hello fellow music lovers. I had a chance to listen to Ikon speakers sold by World of Sound I think. Those units have subwoofers built into each speaker. Therefore it sounded pretty good, the base came from the side where the action was on the screen. The sales guy told me that with that configuration there is no issue with cross over. And that with one speaker the bass is coming from one directions therfore not as natural as these speakers. I have never listened to Axioms. The set of Ikon goes from CAD $3500+tax (smallest size) see the web http://www.ikon-audio.com/products/cm6200.html.
I don't know why but I feel funny about this company and the product. By the way, do you think I can connect 2 subs to single output of my Harman Kardon Receiver (AVR340)??

Please give me your feedback, before I turn over to the DARK SIDE !!!

PS. I was thinking of M80s + EP500. The voices in my head are confusing me now.

Slawek, welcome. Forget what the salesman told you about an "issue" with the crossover to the sub or bass coming from one direction. HT receivers such as your 340 handle the crossover between the speakers and sub routinely with no problem. The bass sent to the sub is essentially omnidirectional and doesn't come from "one direction" when set up correctly.

If you want two subs, you can use a Y-adaptor to feed both of them from the sub out on the 340. Keep thinking of the M80s + EP500.

Imho go with the 80's and the EP500, I've never heard Ikon-audios speakers, but I also can't find one review of their products, that would concern me a little. You can always do the 30 trial with Axiom and let your own ears decide. My guess is you will keep the Axioms.

Incidentally, I took a look and found that "Ikon" is a registered trademark of the Danish speaker company Dali. This outfit would appear to be using Ikon in violation of the registration. This may be some sort of white van type of rip job.

I would have to agree with John, after taking a good look at their questionable website, my first reaction was run! No dealer locator or Literature, and the technology page is ????

They do look questionable at best, I wouldn't touch those things. If you think those things sound good wait till you get a load of what the M80s sound like.

The EP500 has a line in and a line out. Doesn't that mean that you could send the line out to another EP500?

I would think that you'd still need a dedicated sub anyway to reproduce the LFE channel. Without it you only be hearing the bass content of the main channel. Indeed, 2 EP500 (if you want two subs) look like a much better solution. And you can feed one off another.

Well thank you for all your responses. I actually was thinking last night that with Axiom I have 30 days. The Ikon guys have no return policy even next day. I spoke to Axiom one day to see if I could drive there and listen to the speakers, but they told me they don't have facility to let me listen to them properly. I wish there was a place they would come to town and setup a demo of some kind.
If anybody in GTA is kind enough to let me hear M60 or M80 with sub .. I am paying for the beer... each 5 min gets you 12pack !!! hahaha.

Thanks again guys... the voices went away. I will not even go back today as I planned to.
