I found this wikipedia entry very interesting. Lays out what DVD's will have on them.
Looks like DTS isn't going to be offered. I wonder how DTSinc is going to respond to Dolby Digital Plus.
I also found this snippit interesting:
13.1 is a heck of a lot of channels. That must be really expensive to mix. Heck, that has to be really expensive to actually utilize... 10 QS8's, anyone?
DD TrueHD is reported to be lossless which is very nice.
It is interesting to see the difference between Blue Ray and HDDVD. HDDVD is mandating the DDHD and DDP formats, while Blue Ray is leaving them optional but is upping the bitrate on plain old DD.
The nice thing is that it looks like HDDVD will require movies be in 7.1 format. Looks like all you 7.1 home theater users will be happy. I wonder why it isn't required on Blue Ray which has more storage space!
