Hope this hasn't been covered to death but I have a set of M22 v2's (3 weeks old) and can't find any info on them on the Axion web site - it still refers to the m22ti with no mention of the v2 - from the web site or search done here.

I read a review of the new M80v2 (not referred to on the web site either) which mentioned an improved crossover and other minor changes and was wondering if the M22'v2' is just another meaningless 'new and improved' label without any meaningful changes or are there differences between the M22v2 and M22ti significant enough to mention?

Thanks

Larry

If it is really a concern, call Axiom and I'm sure that they will answer all of your questions.

That's interesting. Did they make a v2 version of the M60ti? What changes did they make and how did you come to know of them?

Found this review which mentions the M80v2 and then noticed the same label on my M22's. haven't called Axiom yet, thought you all might know something.

It seems that Axiom has changed all the speakers to the V2, the change was in the crossover as well as the binding posts.

Yep, I think this has been discussed on previous threads. I still like my v1's

I know for the M80s the crossover was changed around three years ago. I don't believe the binding post have been changed, the are the same as they were three years ago.

"...and was wondering if the M22 'v2' is just another meaningless 'new and improved' label without any meaningful changes...."

uh...I guess that's it...wonder why companies bother.

Oh well, no big..

Try calling it rebranding. It's a little less insulting to our hosts. Just because the changes were made a few years ago doesn't make them non-changes.

Before making assumtions and speculations, I would like to suggest waiting till talking with Axiom reguarding the new speaker designations, they will have the correct answers.

Hope this helps

Hello guys, First off I love my new M22's and your customer service and shipping exceeded my expectations but had a question about the 'v2' label on the back of my M22v2's. The boxes say M22ti, your web site refers to them as M22 and M22ti, I read a review of the 'new' M80 v2 which mentioned a new crossover and some minor cabinet changes and was wondering what, if any, difference there was between the M22ti and the M22v2?

As a heads up I will, with your permission, post your response to the message board where I have begun a thread with this same question.

Thank you Larry

Axiom's response:

Hello Larry,

I'm delighted you like your new M22s (v2, ti, etc!).

Axiom is always seeking to make improvements to our speakers, whether these involve small mechanical changes, minor crossover changes, cabinet molding, and the like. In the past, when running changes were made, we didn't alter the model number, unless there was a major upgrade, as in the case of the M2, which became the M2i when we changed the tweeter to the identical model used in the M22, M60s, M80 and all the other Axiom speakers.

When we upgraded the tweeter in the QS4 to the same model as the QS8, the sound quality did not change, only the power handling and overall linearity at louder volumes. So we didn't change the model designation.

At recent meetings, we decided there were enough small changes to enough models to use new nomenclature, hence the v2 designation. Finally, there are no audible differences in the M22ti and the M22v2.

Our site programmers are working to change all the text and references, but it takes time because we've been launching our Custom Wood studio.
