Currently, my center speaker is B&W VM1. Since my TV is silver color, I had chosen it to match the color. But it is not good for dialogs. When watching movie, I set the center speaker level to 10 db on A/V receiver. I plan to replace it with Axiom VP100 or 150. Which one is good for my system?

what is your room size?

I am using the Vp 100 with M22ti and QS8's and it sounds terrrific. If your room is not large as the M22's indicate, the 100 will be more than enough. There will be a few here that might mention a vertical center if you have the room, in which case an M2 or M22 would be in order.(John and Robb I beat you to it )

Have you calibrated your system?

Go for the best, get the VP 150. If you get upgradeitis, you won't need to change your center.

One thing to consider might be placement. If your TV is Crt based and you plan on setting the CC on top of the TV, as I have done, think about the fact that the VP150 is 7 lbs. heavier than the VP100. Most people probably don't have to worry about that since they have a separate stand or bookshelf to place the CC on.

Without knowing your room size it is hard to say but I'm sure that either way you won't have to boost it 10 dbl. I have the vp150 and run it -2 or -3 dbl.

Cheers,

J

My room size is about 35 m2. I am happy with M22 and surrounds performance. The only problem is dialogs. When I listen to music such as SACD I do not have any cc problem during that time even I decrease the level of cc.

I may go with 150 but it is really big and heavy. If 100 will be good enough, I prefer to go with 100.

The 100 will do just fine. It matches the 22 perfectly same driver complement just not the same box so it doesn't go quite as low but not noticeable.

If you find the 100 still doesn't cut it for you, trade it back in within the 30 day trial period and change to the 150 and Axiom pays for the shipping as long as it is a swap for a more expensive speaker. If you still don't like what you hear send the 150 back, but this time you pay for the shipping. You can't lose, as I am sure the 100 will fit your system and what you are looking for.

In auditioning speakers over the last month what came up at every dealer was "buy the best center channel speaker you can afford as dialogue is the most important aspect of the movie experience". With the Axiom VP150 being such a great value I would recommend it over the VP100. If it's size is a consideration take a look under HEARING THINGS for the thread "Audition Needed in Maine". The center speaker support that is pictured is quite impressive and easy to build.
