My father bought two internet receivers a few weeks ago. I bought an internet receiver as well, that can also be used to connect an mp3 player as well. I am wondering what everyone thinks of them, and also how to best configure it to a home-theater setting. They seem to have close to 18,000 station on them, and best of all their are no fees.

Finatic, welcome. Yes, internet radio is a fine source for the vast world of broadcast music. None of my receivers have this as a specific feature, but I use a Xitel HiFi Link to connect the USB output of my computer to the receiver inputs. Typically when I'm at the computer I'm always listening to one of the stations streaming classical music(KUSC, Los Angeles at the moment). A good source for these stations is Classical Webcast .

Cool, I would like to eventually get an AppleTV, but it seems to be a bit grainy for movies, and also the streaming is not too good. But I will review the unit that I got when I have been using it for a while. It was under $150.

Yeah, internet radio is great! My denon 3808 has internet radio built in and I use it frequently. If you find a internet radio station that has a decent bitrate it sounds great. With the denon there is a "restore" feature which makes things sound a little better.

I have a Denon 2310, and will have everything up and running by the end of the month. Just buying some odds and ends, and getting my speakers towards the end of the month.

The 2310 allows for internet radio? Oh my how this feature has become popular.

no it doesn't, I bought a internet radio receiver, not too expensive. Seems to do the trick.

AppleTV = grainy movies? Not that I've observed.

We've had our AppleTV for a couple of years now, and use it all the time for movies and music. As a fairly Apple-centric household, we love it. We rent 2 or 3 HD movies a month on it. I've never noticed any grainy-ness while watching movies, either with SD or HD content. The HD PQ isn't quite BluRay (it's close...), but it's definitely better than DVD on our 61" 1080p HDTV.

And the streaming radio works well on the ATV, now that it's officially supported. For streaming audio I usually use the Sirius streams from our Dish, but the few times I've used the ATV for it, it's worked quite well. Well enough for me, anyway.
