Very compelling technology. Take a gander at these beauties! Guess who designed these speakers?

Does his first name begin with the initial A?

I'm honoured John, but no, it wasn't me. grin

Actually, I contacted Andrew specifically regarding the OMD-28's some weeks ago. I've never heard them(couldn't locate a pair) but they are some of the most beautifully crafted speakers imo. There's some really nice pics of the Bird's Eye Maple and the Rosewood 28's scattered around the web.

I do really like how they look. I wish I could hear a pair in person. I'm still excited by Andrew Welker being part of the Axiom team.

As well as being eye candy I bet these would be a very enjoyable listening experience - very spacious/excellent soundstage.

The A1400-8 feels all alone in its $4000 price bracket.

Andrew told me he had saved a pair of Black Piano finish 28's, I wonder if we could get him to give us a demo at the get together.

I can't help but notice those ugly grill post holes on the piano black finish though. Magnetic grills should come standard on a speaker like that!

The mini versions do have magnetic grills.

I just don't want it to sound like we want a more expensive loudspeaker just to have a more expensive loudspeaker. Here's hoping any splurging would also come with a significant increase in performance.

...as well as aesthetics and build quality.

I have no problem with beauty, but I don't want to be teased by speakers I can't afford. laugh

And yet there's Marina.
Posted By: CV Re: Mirage OMD-28 - 07/17/10 07:47 PM
She really exists, then?
Posted By: Adrian Re: Mirage OMD-28 - 07/17/10 07:49 PM
Charles, the OMD 28's are actually quite reasonable these days compared with the original list of $8K per pair.
Posted By: CV Re: Mirage OMD-28 - 07/17/10 07:52 PM
4242. Nice post count.

I'm not looking to get any Mirage speakers. When you say reasonable, however, how much are you talking about?
Posted By: Adrian Re: Mirage OMD-28 - 07/17/10 08:01 PM
$2600 pr USD.
Posted By: BlueJays1 Re: Mirage OMD-28 - 07/17/10 10:30 PM
$2600 seems very reasonable when you take into account the finish(es) and build quality of this speaker (which looks superb btw).

They're quite large at nearly 4ft tall and hefty at 70+ lbs per.

Hey, thanks! blush
I have to say that I'm still really excited too.

Andrew
