Hello,
I looking to get the epic grand master set up except with a hsu sub, and my question is, I listen to among other things a lot of rap/hip hop music - how would this set up work for that type of music? also right now Im using this sony receiver http://www.techtronics.com/uk/shop/612-sony-str-de545-receiver.html - I know its not the best but should it hold up ok?
Thanks
Mark

Mark, there should be no problem as far as the ability of your 545 to deliver plenty of clean power to your Axioms. It's slightly dated with respect to features, such as DPLII, but this may not be of much significance to you.

thats for the reply, yeah once I pay off the speakers I will replace the sony, but I just wanted to make sure it would handle the axioms with out clipping etc.

If you're going to be listening to mostly hip hop (that's like rap but with more of a dance beat, right?), I would look at the set up with the M50s. You lose the QS8s, but gain more bass out of your mains - which I'm guessing you might prefer. I must say, however, that I have never heard the M22s, M50s, or the QS4s, and I know nothing about hip hop.
So, why am I writing this? BLTB.

I'd say you'll do fine with the M22s and the Hsu. You may want to increase the volume of the sub over "normal" levels, and put the crossover fairly high, so you get the big midbass. Unfortunately, just like BigWill, I've never heard the M50s and don't own the M22s, and I don't listen to hip hop. I'd hold onto the QS4s, though. However, I was discussing this with Peter (pmbuko) yesterday, and I think that music is music, and most (if not all) types would benefit from excellent, neutral speakers (such as the M22s). All in all, I think these would be a very good choice. Get some! Play around! Try different things out! Make sure you listen to stuff that you know well. Also, I'd probably recommend replacing the VP100 with a VP150, as per other posts comparing the 2 centers.

thanks for the tips - and I think that what was said, all music will benefet from good speakers, really sums it up.

so yeah I guess I'll go ahead and order, thanks again.
