I have a Cambridge Audio cd player with a exceptionally nice tasting power cord(to my bulldog).... I have laying around the house an old power cord belonging to who knows what(probably something computer) My question is would it work to replace the chewed up one. They are basically the same except the cd cord was 18 awg X 3 and about 3 foot long where as the comp. cord is 16 awg X 3 and about 12 foot long. Would the extra legnth hurt my performance any....

Hey John,

Shut up, stop being neurotic, and just use that damn PC power cord!!!

In fact, you are lucky to have a player that is high-quality enough to have a DETACHABLE power cable. Most "reasonably priced" gears have a permanently installed cord.

Thanks alot Sushi, I was really hoping you would be the one to reply.....so knowledgable.

John, considering the miles that the power has traveled in getting to your home and maybe another 50 feet inside before the outlet, an extra 9 feet should be safe.

I would just try to get something close to what you had before. If you plug in the computer cord and it doesn't make a difference, then don't worry about it. If it bothers you, maybe you can find something on ebay?

Besides, I think the power cord is less critical on a CD player than on an amp, where real power is being drawn.

I don't think it matters. Go ahead and use the computer one.

john, you may need to continually re-boot that cd player if you use that computer cord...

Thanks guys, I would have responded quicker but my CD player crashed, should have bought a MAC.....

Oh, no. Perhaps we shouldn't divulge our preferred computer platforms in this forum. All we need is a Macs vs. PCs thread on top of all the other debates we've already got.

WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPS!
sorry.

No problem. This just doens't seem like the right place to explain why Macs are better than PCs.

Did I really just say that? Shame on me.

Being in the IT business, I will say what Apple has done with OS10.X is great. They should have done it a long time ago.

Just bought the cute, tiny, light, durable, and powerful 12" PowerBook G4 (using my lab budget, of course). hehe... I guess I've already got Peter's enterprise IT approval.

Macs, like PCs are nothing more than tools, all religious fanaticism aside. Some tools are better at specific tasks than others and vice versa. Such is the case of Macs and PCs.

Claims of anything but will result in me taunting you as a fanboy.

That's actually my opinion as well. I use both platforms and like/dislike aspects of each.
