I just ordered a pair of m2 for my computer!

Are they great near field monitors.

George, welcome. The M2s are very accurate, flat speakers. There's nothing special about "monitors"(except those which are self-powered), which confers any unique qualities. The M2s should serve you very well.

I know that. Does the flatness become more important the closer you get to the speaker?

Just wired them up they sound awesome.
