The manual for my NAD C270 amp (2 channel) states: "Equipped with two sets of loudspeaker binding posts, adding a second pair of speakers becomes easy." Thats all it says on that topic. I am aware that generally it is not a good idea to drive four speakers from one two channel amp. But I am wnodering what they mean by that statement.

What I would like to be able to do with the amp is drive my M60's off one set of binding posts, and then drive my outdoor Algonquins off the other set of binding posts. It would not be necessary to drive all four speakers simultaneously. I would just like to be able to easily switch between the two sets of speakers. What type of switch would I use for that purpose?

Should be Ok, they are rated to drive 2 pairs at 8 Ohms at the same time. Or one pair at 4 Ohms. Just double check the nominal impedance of whatever speakers you are connecting.

Diagram on page 3 of manual shows rear detail of amp. smile

All four speakers are 8 oms, so I should be ok there. But what I really want to know is what type of switcher to use to turn off one set so that I can listen to just the M60's, or just the Algonquins, as I do not want the outside speakers on all the time.

Oh, ok. You need something like a transfer switch, but for speakers.

A simple 4 Pole Double throw switch would work in theory.

They make rotary speaker selector dials that you can turn From A to B or A+B etc. Many different variations out there.

Niles Audio etc. are good ones used in structured home audio. High power models available.
