Hey guys,

I'm in a position where I could get a used Aragon 4004 mkII or a Nakamichi PA7 which is a Nelson Pass designed amp. I think it's equivalent to a Threshold S/250. Unfortunately because the sellers are out of state, it would be extremely hard to audition them. So I'm reaching out to other owners to see if they have an opinion which amp would sound better from a 2 channel listening perspective with the M80s.

Thanks!
I don't know if this matters but I have the m80 v3's Thanks!
My suggestion would be to google for some reviews and see how that goes. Amplifier discussion can get ugly real fast in almost any forum unfortunately. I added a Emotiva XPA-3 and I find it to be quite pleasing. These sorts of things are quite subjective and really depends on the individual . Not much help but a place to start. GL
The Nak is 20 years old almost. The Aragon is 10 years newer.

I would buy neither without a test drive.
Thanks for the advice. I'm going to post a new thread to see if I can get some additional advice on some newer amps.

Although I have never owned one because of their cost, Aragon amps have always been noted as one of those in the audiophile/high end category, hence. assuming it is in good working order, in good shape and the price is right, I don't believe you could go wrong there. In addition to sound quality, well built amps are usually very quiet and the 10 year old Aragon should compare favorably to anything built today, regardless of cost. Frankly, I was not aware that Nakamichi ever built power amps so I am totally unfamiliar with the model you described.

Power amps should last a long time, 20 years, at least, not being unusual.
