Anyone here running the M100's in a 2 channel system ?

Do they go deep enough not requiring a sub ?

How about low volume late night listening.......do they still have all that nice stuff a great speaker can deliver without pouring a bunch of power into it ?

Any thoughts are appreciated........in the market for new speakers for a 2 channel system.

Thanks..... Drunkonjack

My buddy stole mine and listens to jazz on them at a quarter Watt from 14 feet away in a 6000 cu ft space. When the missus goes to bed, he turns them down to a 64th of a Watt.

At my place, they met the full fury of an ADA-1500 and unleashed Armaggedon in my 4200 cu ft space.

I have a bit of XP in this department. I can say for certain the M100's DO NOT need a sub. They have a lot of bang for your buck in the bass department. imho, they have the perfect balance of bass and mids that keeps your head nodding as you listen. If you want to rattle your neighbors windows then you'll need a woofer. But for the perfect blend of highs, mids, and lows, no sub required. I bypass my sub all the time, especially at night when the kids goto bed. I've been doing blind tests to see if my friends could hear the difference between sub on and off. It's difficult.

I agree with Rebulx. The M100s have plenty of low end and are perfectly fine playing 2 channel stereo without a sub. However, adding the sub allows you to adjust the crossover on the M100s so they don't have to handle the lowest frequencies. I've toyed around with mine in a 11000 cubic foot room and while they sound good in 2 channel stereo adding the sub takes them to another level. I listen to mine at high volumes so I can't wait to see what they can do once I add a ADA-1500 to the system.

Hey Drunkon,

When you get your M100's you'll enjoy turning it up and playing Phil Collins "in the air tonight" the M100's beat you like Mike Tyson when that song hit's it peak. You'll see, hope you enjoy them as much as I do! Although I recommend sitting down the first time you hear that song, they'll knock you on your a$$. lol

Those are my active omnis in walnut natural satin. Ian picked the walnut and he personally buffed them with an algonquin beaver pelt wrapped around his manly Scottish forearm.
