i just got my Axioms a few days ago and I seem to be coming up short on the audio quality when I play the Eagles "Hell Freezes Over Tour" live DVD. I'm running a Yamaha HT5650 w/M22, QS8 and VP150. Sub is a HSU VT-2. Anyway, I was getting what seemed to be better vocal response from my Bose 301's. In fact I hooked up a Bose back to the right channel and kept an M22 on the left. The M22 seemed strained and the bose sounded richer. I haven't yet calibrated the system so that may be factor or it may be the M22 is more accurate and picking up a bad mix on the DVD itself (less forgiving then the Bose) but I was wondering if anyone else has had a simialr problem and how they dealt with it. Thanks.

Something has got be wrong somewhere. The Eagles DVD is a good quality recording (I'm assuming you're listening in DTS mode) so your M22 should sound much better.

The day a Bose sounds better than an Axiom is the day Hell Freezes Over (pun intended!!!!)

I agree with that assessment of Bose. That's why I got the Axioms. The music is much better, it's just Don Henley's the voice seems less pronounced through the M22's than the Bose. I think I'm just not used to a better quality speaker that differentiates between music and voice as much as the AXioms do. I will also do some tweaking which will probaly help. The HT use of these speaker is great by the way.

The M22s are good speakers but don't have lots of bass. If you haven't calibrated speaker levels properly, that could be a factor. Personally I like my bass at about +3db above the calibration point.

I have the "Hell Freezes Over" DVD, and it's very good. However if you want the best, try the Hotel California DVD-A. It will play on most DVD players. It's one of the best surround mixes I've heard.
