Okay everyone, ignore my doofus attempts at embedding pictures in the previous post, here it is. My soon-to-be new room. I haven't moved in yet and I was worried about the m60s being able to fit in there and even contemplating exchanging for m22s...what do y'all think?



I want to build a clothes wardrobe along the wall behind the dotted speakers because the room does not come with any closets.

I'm not sure what sort of input you're looking for. It looks to me like you should have ample room between you and the m60s, and between the two of them. I'm not sure what effect the sloped ceiling will have, but I don't imagine it would be too detrimental. Personally I would keep them and not go through the hassle of exchanging them. Are you going to be in this room for many years to come?

I am using the M60's in a room that has a sloped roof going from 10' down to 8' with no issues. I am only able to pull them out from the rear wall approximately 18" (or less)...I know they would sound better with more "breathing room".

I would be mindful of the need of the speakers to breathe as you build your clothes closet. You don't want to get used to listening to the M60's with the current room behind them and then block off the back of the room and possibly have the dispersion change. Also, a bit of distance from the side walls allows them to breathe better and sound better too.

I guess I have a few worries and should probably be more explicit about them:

1. The placement of the speakers behind the door and the fear that I might slam it into the front of the speakers!

2. The effect that having a build-in wardrobe or shelving along the wall behind it

3. The possibility of the speakers being in a more equalateral triangle insteal of an elongated one because that would move it out of the door and wardrobe way...

Yup it would be a more permanent setup as opposed to my changing apartments every 6 months right now. As far as I can see it, where I proposed to put the speakers seem to be the only possible setup and I'm wondering maybe a fresh eye can see another solution without worrying about doors and possible closet space?

What's the floor material? You can put some sort of a stop to make sure that the door doesn't hit them. (I know I would!)

Good point there whatfurrer, the clothes closet behind is something I'm wondering about too. SHould i build around the speakers and leave gaps or try to move the speakers to a new location. Plus with all the clothes around it even if I don't install closet cabinets will it affect the sound?

I was also thinking along that lines, the floor is hardwood, and the door goes flush along the wall when opened so I was thinking of maybe installing a doorcloser so that the door only opens to a certain angle. Haven't explored other avenues apart from the conventional rubber floor stopper....

There's a number of things you can do about the door, but given the hardwood I think your best bet might be a hinge pin that would only allow the door to open 90 degrees and be relatively invisible, cheap, and pretty easy to install.

just take the door off and replace with some hangin beads.. it will be groovy man... just make sure you close the bathroom door when going #2.. looks like a straight shot..
