i got these speakers, they are floorstanding speakers. they have two speaker connections - i installed in both the first and bottom connection, but both sound very bassy and not very trebly. i have a pair of bookshelf speakers that sound fabulous. the new floorstanding speakers sound like crap, very muddy, very bassy, no treble. am i doing something wrong with these dual speaker wire inputs?
Did you leave the straps on between the two sets of plugs? (Were there straps?) If you didn't, the woofers are the only things getting a signal, which would easily explain your problem.
Nae, welcome. The only thing wrong with your question is that you should have identified the speakers. If you have speakers with two sets of terminals the bottom set is connected only to the woofer and the top set to the mids and/or tweeters. There should be a metal strap included which connects the two sets of terminals and has to be tight so that all the drivers are actually operating. Otherwise, the bottom connection will only operate the woofers and you'll get little mids and no highs.
yes, the straps are in place. the speakers sound great at low volume. however, at loud volume it's only bass. it might just be the speakers; they're SDATĀ® SB-E880 Hi-Fi Floorstanding 3-Way Bass Reflex Speaker System Pair (which you can see here: http://store.yahoo.com/buyessex/sdsbhifl3bar.html). maybe it's just the speakers. . .
Well, I've never heard of them, but you should probably contact the manufacturer. Can you tell if anything is coming out of the tweeters or mids?
They sure look like they could do some damage.I've never heard of them either.
Don't understand why the volume would make a difference. Try connecting the top set of terminals rather than the bottom set to see if that changes anything.
Nor can I find any information about them. Nothing on audioreview.com. Are your bookshelves also from this brand?
The only other thing I could find on this brand of speaker that they are called Sdat/Mixsonic group. They offer large floor standing speaker for only a couple hundred dollars. There are no type of reviews as far as I can tell. They can be found on overstock.com and ubid.com
They sound like white van speakers... I was at Best Buy a couple of days ago and some guy was selling speakers from the back of a van. The speakers where clones. I laughed at the "name brands" like "paradime" (note the spelling). I had to be a jerk with the guy after looking at the crap he had. It was funny.
I'm afraid I had the same thought. Now that we've scared off the poor new guy...
I was also thinking that but didn't know how to say it without seeming like we were insulting him.The old saying you get what you pay for sometimes holds true.
Let's hook him up with Axiom's. He won't regret it. A lot of people have been taken on white van screw jobs. It's our job to educate and help him out.
Unfortunately, the model he was pointing at looks like it was extremeley expensive (around $1300). I didn't see any prices lower than that except on uBid. I hope we're wrong, frankly.
Oh no.. I feel bad for saying anything. I agree, I hope we are wrong. Foot in my mouth....
Ubid had the same model for a starting bid of $249.00 I think.I really hope he didn't give $1300.00
for them.
The site he linked to had it at that price. The rest of the models were "on sale" for $99 instead of $1200 but that one was "on sale" for $1299 instead of $1299.
I just checked ubid again and the opening bid is $249.00 with 3 hours left. This is the same exact model.
