I picked up a Sony cd recorder on the way home from work today but it wasn't untill I got it connected that I found the remote also operated the alreading existing Sony Megachangers, everytime I used the remote for the recorder it does the same (available) function on the megachanger, and visa-versa.
In the 'fast' record of the recorder you can't hear the music while it records so I thought I'd listen to the megachanger but everytime I either changed disc, fast forwarded or a similar function it does the same function on the recorder while it is recording and thus interupting the recording of the cd.

Will an MX 700 or simliar remote distinguish two or more different models of the same make and not interupt the functions of systems?

I'd like to be able to listen to music on either one of the players during recording on the recorder *while* using the intended remote without interfering.

If both your Sony's are running the same remote code number, it will not matter what remote you use, it will still try and run both. My suggestion would be to power one down when not in use. Not stand by, power it right down.

LOL, or I could go to the old manual and no remote route.

Actually what I am thinking about doing is to plug the recorder in another room of the house and using it for recording specifically, don't think I'd need the sound function for that. I don't see why it needs to be connected to the reciever to record, probably any wall outlet in the house will work just fine.

I have a Sony cd recorder that I use in a headphone set up.It is not with the other equipment.Putting it in another room would be the easiest solution.

I believe you can set the Sonys to use any of three, discrete code-sets. On the Megachangers, they are termed CD1, CD2 and CD3. Sometimes, the "switch" to tell the device which set to use is on the back panel, sometimes it is accessible through the button menus on the front.

On the remote, look for a little switch on either the top of the remote that has those codes, or look in the battery compartment.

Having a different set of codes for each device should allow you to control them independently and keep them in the same room if you want.

I've not had any success finding CD2 or CD3 code-sets for the MX-700. BUT you should be able to "learn" the different ones.

This issue is ongoing for me, so if anybody else has wisdom or experience, please share.
