I had originally intended on getting the EP350 but after a lot of research I am now considering the AV123 Rocket UFW-10 or the SVS 25-31PCI or the 20-39PCI. I will listen mostly to music but will eventually add the appropriate speakers for a 5.1 setup. My primary listening will always be music, not home theater although I like to listen to concert DVD's and a good movie now and again. I guess you would call my room medium size and my fronts will be the Axiom M60ti's.

Any opinions on these two subs?

I'm sure you'd be happy with any of those. In that price range, I must also suggest you look into the Hsu VTF-3 as well though. It's one of the greatest subs I've ever heard.

Well, Craig seems to be back on track, which is good to see. Did you finish or have you not yet started The Goblet of Fire?

As to the subs, I have a SVS PB12-ISD and am thoroughly satisfied. I think that Rocket thing is probably of fine quality, but I do not understand how it can credibly suspend the laws of physics with its dimunitive size and still perform in the same class as bigger boxes. Plus, I don't think I could set a remote, a magazine and a beer on top of one.

Tom, I have a UFW-10, and I'm quite surprised at what it can do. I'm quite happy with it and I prefer it to the STF-2 it replaced. It looks better, too.

Being a sealed subwoofer, it's transient response, particularly on music, is excellent. And you'd better NOT set a beer on MY UFW-10 (magazine or remote is OK though ).

Yeah, but what about that "not enough real estate for my vital accessories" problem? Huh? What about it? This is still America, right? You trying to tell me bigger ISN'T better or something? You're one of them subversive hippie-types, aren't you?

I'll bet it's great, Jack. And you KNOW that I am pleased you enjoy it. I'd love to hear it some time.

Too bad about the Indians, btw.

Heck no. Bigger is always better.

We will NOT talk about the Indians!

(Actually, they did a lot better than anybody here expected a young team to do. The future looks bright.)

i would check out Paradigm's subs too. the PS1200 or the PW2200 if you have the extra cash. they are both amazing!

I have an EP350 in a room that's about 15 x 24 x 9. I use it for home theater and music. About 50/50. I especially love multi-channel music when I can get my hands on it. The sub is INSANE! I can't imagine ever having to upgrade this. It's my 3rd subwoofer and most likely my last. Worth every penny I paid. Another incredible Axiom product.

Started Goblet on Tuesday night. Hopefully my end of things will finish up in under two weeks.

Wow. That just seems really fast to me!

I agree with SoCal, I love my EP350, besides it matches the finish of my other Axiom speakers. I don't like to keep the look the same. I might even add a second EP350 soon for the basement.

Craig,
I saw something online about HSU bringing back cylinder subs soon. If so, I might just wait a bit.

I have ten cameras running 24/7.

Uh, I guess that would make it pretty fast...
