Hello everyone,

As my trial period ends for the M22ti, I was wondering if I should upgrade for the M60ti ? I'm very satisfied with my setup but I just want to be sure that I'm not missing something better.

Here's my current setup :

Front : M22ti
Center : VP150
Rear : QS8
Sub : HSU STF-2
Receiver : Yamaha RX-V657

The size of my room is 26 X 12 and it it opens up into one bigger areas (kitchen.) I'm sitting at 10ft from the front speakers. There's 7ft between the M22s and I have no rug on the floor.

Thx in advance.

Patrick
How far away do you sit fromt he speakers?
My room is 18x12x9 and I'm happy with the M22tis'. That being said, I don't know if I would put the M22 in a room much larger than mine depending on your listening habits. When I push my system hard it is very loud and crystal clear but you get a sense it is reaching its "ceiling." I have considered "updrading" to M80s although this is more looking ahead to our next house with a larger, dedicated room.

If you are thinking about upgrading to the 80s in the future you may consider keeping the M22's for this house and using them for the rear surrounds in a 7.1 system in your next house. I do hear the M22's make fine rear surrounds with the 80's or 60's. Thoughts?

Maybe I should also wait later and then upgrade for the M80ti

26 x 12 seems to *me* to big a pretty large area for the M22's. I suppose your listening habits, volume levels and etc. have a lot to do with it, but that seems like a large area to me.
Keep in mind that I've never personally listened the M22's so don't take my opinion as gospel.
My current line of thinking is to move to the M80s for mains and use the M22s as rear surrounds in a 7.1 setup.

Our rooms and setups sound almost identical. Mine is 12.5' x 25', hardwood floors, sitting 8 or 9 feet away and I've got the M22s. I know if I personally had the scratch right now, I'd probably spring for the M60s. I love my 22s, but there are occasions where I feel like the 60s would be better suited to the size of the room.
Hmmm...that's a good sized room, but you sit pretty darn close. I honestly don't know how to answer. The M60ti's will fill the room much easier, but sitting that close, it that really an issue?

I have a very similar sized room that also opens up into the kitchen. Started with 22's and upgraded to 60's. Kept the 22's for surrounds. Upgrade was totally worth it in my opinion. But I knew just what sound I was looking for and when I plugged in the 60's and spun up a disc I knew I had done the right thing.

It was just a matter of the mid bass and bass not sounding full enough or having enough punch. And yes I am running a sub with my setup, the 60's were still worth the difference.

Also now I will listen to just the 60's quite a bit where with the 22's you kind of always needed the sub for backup.

But I must say I also like the idea of holding out and saving up for some 80's.

Craig is probably right, and I do own the m22s. However, if I had it to do over and I had the room for them I would probably opt for the m60s up front.
