I have the house pre-wired for a whole home audio system. One room to get a pair of in wall speakers is the spa room. This room is tied into the houses HRV system, so air will be constantly drawn from it at a fairly low volume. It “should” be enough to keep the humidity down to a reasonable level. But while the Jacuzzi is being used, I suspect there will be a fair amount of moisture in the air.

Is there anyone with this type of situation that can provide some input? I’d love to go with a set of the W22’s in this room.

If you look at the pics on my web page you will see an 8' x 8' Cal Spa, I heard nothing but nightmares from people when my plan of having the spa inside of the solarium. The spa has been in place going on 6 years now, and I have no problems at all. For about 9 months out of the year, the cover is never used, durning the winter months, I put the cover on simply becasue it saves some on the heating cost, if not, the spa tries to aid in the heating of the house.
The rear speakers and one of the surrounds are only a few feet from the spa, and have never showed any issues from the spa. So in my situation, the spa is a mute point. YMMD.

Thanks Dennis. I think that’s all I needed to hear. I’m roughing in a wall where the speakers will go, and wanted to get the stud spacing and depth right (it’s a wall on an existing exterior wall). Any tips with that after you installed yours?

Hey Joe, sometimes I get lucky and think ahead. I wired the house for four zones (including the garage!!) all going back to the office where I’ll set up the electronics someday. Probably the same day I buy that central vacuum cleaner to hook up to all that stinking pipe I ran……..

For now you can buy some mice or hamsters and let them play in the pipe.

Not a bad idea. Maybe they can find that damn cricket that escaped from my boy’s lizard cage. F-ing thing just won’t die!!!! Crickets outside on a summer’s night in the desert are relaxing to me, inside a house in the middle of winter in Alaska are not relaxing.

As for the AS sereies installation, they will work on the standard 2 x 4 wall that is 16" OC. If using an exterior wall, the insulation will need to be cut out some, so the speaker will snap into the frame once installed. Axiom provides a template for making the cut out area for the AS frame, so knowing exactly where the wall studs are located helps. The W100 & W150 are less than 14" in width, and the distance between 16" OC studs should be 14.5" in a perfect world, and are usually close to that dimension.
The AS sereis does not need any special framing of the wall, the in wall bracket is desigined very well and uses a series of screws to compress the two metal frames to the drywall. Took me about 10 minutes per speaker to install them, a bit longer to install some cut in boxes in the wall and pull wires from them to the speaker opening.
