I have been happy with my M2ti's, mated with a Hsu VTF-3 subwoofer (Many Thanks to Alan and others here for their valuable setup advices!).

Recently, I read high praises for Axiom's new M2i. Not many reviews were found for the "old" M2ti.

I understand that the new M2i has a bigger 1" tweeter and lower crossover frequency (2700Hz), while the old M2ti had 1" tweeter with 1/2' voice coil and a crossover freq. of 4700Hz.

But is there a significant, AUDIBLE improvement?
Is it worthwhile to upgrade? (assuming the old M2ti may be sold or given as a gift to my sister).

Hi imind,

Yes, the M2i's new tweeter brings its performance and its midrange smoothness remarkably close to the M22ti. It's not as good as the latter, but it's very smooth and neutral, moreso than the original M2ti.

Regards,
Thank you, Alan.
As always, your advice was clear and to the point.

PS. I assume,Alan, your "Yes" is the reply to both questions "Is there a significant audible difference?" and "Is it worthwhile to upgrade?".
Hi imind,

Yes, and yes. You could retire your M2ti's to other duties perhaps as surrounds or as center rears in a 6.1 or 7.1 system, or as a secondary system in a bedroom. You could also try one as a center channel. I suspect the tonal balance would be quite good for home theater.

Regards,
Thanks, Alan.

The new M2i with the old speaker grill from the M2ti looks great, elegant!
