Please note that I am not a bass freak and I am a newbie to HT. I hear that the Outlaw Audio's LFM-1 is equal to the EP500 at 25hz and up. Has anyone had any experience with these subwoofers? Any advice would help. Keep in mind that I would be purchasing two LFM-1's as opposed to 1 ep500.

** I also would like to ask; What do I need to power two subs? Would I need an amplifier? I have a Yamaha V2600, will that be enough to power two subs?

I can't help you with the sub comparison, but I can tell you that you don't need to worry about powering most subwoofers, as they come with integrated amplifiers. All you need is a line-level suboofer output (or pre-out). Any 5.1 (or 6.1 or 7.1) receiver built since the late 90s will have this.

I use a LF1 for my two channel system. I have an EP 600 for the HT, but I used to have a 500. I did a little “test” between the 500 and the LF1 one day when I received the 500 from FedX. The test was nothing scientific or even educated for that matter. I plopped the 500 down where the LF 1 was and give it a listen. The LF1 is a great sub and does just fine as far as subs go, but it just can’t compete against the EP’s. The 500 is so much more sub it’s an unfair fight between the two. I don’t even think two of them would outdo one EP500.
