The bug is biting right now for new HT equipment!
I thought about a new prepro but can't complain about the Denon 3805. Alan at Axiom and Gene at Audioholics have both advised me that for HT the Denon is a great prepro. "It would be difficult for me to hear any change in sound quality by changing to a newer prepro in that price class.", or words to that effect.
Any thoughts?
Hey Doug:
How about a Squeezebox-type device to help you rediscover your music collection?
Then you could let me know how you like it!
I'm like you Doug, I have the Denon 3805 that I'm pretty happy with, but since I've ventured into HD DVD and Blu-ray I find myself needing to upgrade to a receiver with HDMI. Have you considered a HD DVD or a Blu-ray player, thats a step up for video.
Speaking of the SMS-1. I can't get to the Outlaw forum. Anybody else?
Doug, the "dust" is not never going to settle for High Def discs in the near future. I really suggest you jump in, you'll spend less than USD 500 for a player and probably nothing (rental from Netflix) for software. I could not resist, and I am happy I didn't.
I also have a second idea/suggestion for you to spend your money: if you have a second media room, or simply living room or bedroom for that matter, why don't you build a new stereo system with separates? What do you think? This with assuming that you like music and own many CDs.
I think a little tube amp/M3 setup would be nice....
Go to the outlaw hideout, then to the saloon. See if that helps.
Tried that. Both ways I get this error report:
Quote:
Software error:
Could not perform buffered print to '/u/web/outla5/ubb/cache-Y3HQ7B6V/ubb_files/counter/2007-03-dynamic.cgi'. The server has told me that the disk is out of space - I was prevented from writing to the file. Please ask the administrator to contact the web hosting provider. The exact error returned by the operating system is: No space left on device
Oooh, that's a nasty one. Low disk space on modern OSes is dangerous.
I get the same error message.
I ordered a pair of M3 Outdoor speakers! Couldn't help myself. $264 is too cheap not to order. I'll either use them in the sunroom or in the office.
I fell better already!!!!!!
Well, my suggestion was
closest, even if not exactly right!
ENJOY!
Doug, the post is now up at outlaw. Sorry i didnt know it was down until i looked on 3-25. By the way you asked me in a thread what i was listening to before. Well it started with a kenwood 6400 rack system with a center speaker and some surrounds. I have some old pioneer HPM-150s for the front and used the towers for the rears, and it sounded pretty good for a while, until! Ran it loud and clipped my poor hpms tweeters and mids. I still miss the sound of the 15" bass woofers. I've been looking for replacements with no avail. I'm gonna build a new set of speakers with these woofers and try to match some mids and tweeters. Doing my homework on crossovers,vas,etc...should be a nice summer project.I'll let you know here or at outlaw.
