regarding the qs4 and qs8 surrounds:
What advantage is there to purchasing the "full metal" wall bracket or the qs stands as opposed to just using the flush mount wall bracket that is included with the speakers?

If you had your couch up against a rear wall and there were no side walls to mount your surrounds on then
would it be ideal to use the full metal bracket or stands so that you could have your surrounds aiming in from the sides? ( for a 5.1 system)

I guess in this case the flush mount wall bracket would not allow proper placement of the surrounds?

T, where the listeners are almost up against the back wall, the side surround QSs can be mounted on the back wall and separated as widely as possible, almost to the side walls. There's no need to "aim" the QSs inward and they should be flat against the wall, pointing forward.

Take a look at the pictures in the link in my signature. I have my couch directly up against the wall in a room that has open sides and no place to put side surrounds. I used the Axiom speaker stands and sort of angled them diagonal to the couch. They sound fantastic where they are located.

Maybe looking at my pics will help you decide since my circumstance is the same as yours.

Hey,

Welcome back! What JohnK said.

thanks for the welcome. It sounds like I will just be able to flush mount them. If for some reason i am not content I can always buy the stands or full metal brackets later and angle them into the couch.

It will still be a couple of months before I have the extra cash to purchase my axioms... but I am just trying to get an idea of the setup.

I came to the conclusion that our couch stinks and is old, so I am going to get a new couch/loveseat tomorrow which will delay the speaker purchase slightly. My girflriend helped me make this decision as she would not go for us sitting on a stinky old couch with a top notch sound system

I am still trying to find someone close to oklahoma who can audition their speakers tho. Anyway, hopefully it won't be long till I can pull the trigger and get some axioms. thanks again for all the advice.

ok, rather than creating a whole knew thread I figured I would just post in this one.

This question is regarding the center channel.

My TV stand has a spot for a center channel but it is not very big at ALL. I can remove this little shelf and then there is room for it, but unfortunately this would place the center channel only 9" above the ground. (I could aim it up however.) The shelf is actually 10 inches high, so I could prop the center channel up about 2-2.5 inches some how and it would still fit on the shelf (for a 7.5" high vp-150

The other option is to mount the center channel above the tv. This however would place the speaker a few inches above 56" (the height of my tv + stand) and it would be mounted on a wall 19" behind my tv (since I have an LCD rear projection)

So any suggestions on center channel placement given my options?
