Any ideas? I'm a non speaker techy- came across Axiom speakers through some online research. Was comparing speakers: B&W, Energy and ATON. Read some great reviews on Axiom products. I am trying to replace blown out in wall speakers in a 17x25 stone floor den. Room is wired for 4 speakers and I was looking at the new t2 in wall speakers w/VP100 Center. Any advise for this size room? Trying to get best sound for least money (of course). Any recommendations if I was to use one pair of Axiom t2's for front and something else (less expensive) for rear? Also, looking at the Algonquin outdoor speaker for the back. Thanks!!

What is your budget? Have you considered the InWall/OnWall Architecture series? I would go with a regular bookshelf line versus the Algonquin for indoor use.

My mistake, planning on using the Algonquin for backyard-just wanted feedback on these speakers. My budget is around $2,000. This is for front/rear in wall speakers for den. A pair of in wall speakers for formal dining area, pair of outdoor speakers, and a center/sub woofer (I have a sub already and can wait to purchase better one later). Primary use for these speakers will be music and movies (75/25).

I just added Algonquins myself and really enjoy them. They're a great buy for the money.

When you say "rear" are you talking about using for surrounds? If so, they should be on the sides of the room for 5.1 and if you go 7.1, then you would have "rears" in the equation.

I guess I don't know much about true surround sound. The room is currently wired and wall cutouts already there for four speakers, 2 on front wall, 2 on rear. The front wall is where the entertainment center is located (tv, stereo, etc). The rear or back wall is where the couch is located. Speakers are mounted about 4 feet away from each side of the couch. The den area is not enclosed. One side is all fireplace, other side is open to a large kitchen. Also, the wall cutouts are already there. Could I just use the new Axiom T2 in wall speakers? I think I'm pretty clueless about this stuff?? Never done it before-

Thanks! Just curious if the sound travels well. I have a large entertaining area in the back yard. The current speakers I'm replacing are spaced about 20 feet apart.

Nancy, welcome. Just to answer one of your questions, the two speakers more toward the rear are commonly referred to as "side surrounds" and are to be placed directly to the side of the listening position or maybe a couple feet father back. Since the couch is close to the back wall that would satisfy the requirement that those speakers not be too far behind the listeners. They should still be well to the side, since they still play side surround sound even though they're on the back wall, and four feet outside each end of the couch sounds sufficient.

Yes Nancy, as John mentioned, with your arangement you will be ok. However, you might want to consider going with Qs4 or Qs8 surrounds which can be mounted "onwall" and provide you an enveloping experience for Home Theater movie applications.
