I'm not looking to blow out the 'hood with bass, but would like to have a little more low end while listening to music on the patio with the Algonquins. I'm looking for a sub that can be moved in and out of the house or garage fairly easily. I really can't justify spending a ton of money, even to myself, let alone anyone else that may live in the same house as me. Anyway, I disgress...after losing a few bids for used subs, I'm considering a factory outlet EP125. It is actually a little more money than I was looking to spend on the used subs, but I believe worth the support of buying new from Axiom. I would guess that the EP125 would work quite well for music playback. As for logistics, the patio is bordered by the side of the house and the back of the garage. Thanks in advance for your opinions and suggestions!
I havn't seen this situation before so I'm not sure. I would be concerned about forgetting to bring the sub in, something I would be guaranteed to do.
This might be an ideal situation for a DIY sonotube sub. The advantage being a down firing driver and you can paint the sub with something outdoor/weather resistant.
I suppose you could also buy a manufactured down firing sub and refinish it.
I'd browse Craigslist in your area for used subs.
Maybe something like this? It's hard for me to recommend anything as I hadn't really been shopping for outdoor subs very much.

Fred, Tom, and Stunt...thank you for your input!
I searched CL yesterday before I posted and have tried the Ebay route, too. I did see a close out sub for less than 200 on Ebay that is probably my best route. Or, I can use my SWR Goliath III 4 x 10 bass cab and Ampeg V4BH head. That would really be the most cost effective way to go!
Looks like the EP800 works outdoors too...

The
Bic Acoustech H100 is a well touted inexpensive sub as is the
Energy subs.
Since you're already getting useful answers, I thought I would offer this "more effective" outdoor sub solution :

I was so close to posting a similar post but figured it would have been a bit much. Nice suggestion.
that array is a little scary!
thanks to all for your input!
I just ordered a re-furb'd ESW-8, delivered for $105.
should work just fine until I get a 90 ft. tower and an EP800!

Don't forget to post pics!
yeah Rick, thought for 105 I couldn't go too wrong!
I am sorry that I had to be cheap and cheat with another brand, but, I am a true, loyal Axiom guy...M80's, QS8's, VP150, EP500, in my theatre room, M60's in the living room, M22's and M3's in my daughters' rooms, and the Algonquins on the patio.
hey Fred, I'll work on taking some pics and posting them!
This looks like a great outdoor sub too...
That sub looks good! I always had a thing for these outdoor subs
Weetabix for breakfast, eh? I suppose it could be worse.
Yeah, like what Shooter McGavin eats for breakfast.
"You eat $h_t for breakfast?"
