I wonder if axiom has ever thought about making a horizontal m80 center speaker? Obviously they would arrange the drivers different. Probably wmtmw and maybe eliminate the ports which would raise the frequency response up a little, but would allow for more placement options. If it was priced the same as one M80 that would put it at $665 Not bad for a giant center channel. I would buy one in a heartbeat!!!
I am not saying that the vp150 is not a good speaker but judging the m80, qs8, and vp150 most people seem to be 100% satisfied with the first two and occasionally there is someone with an “issue” about the vp150 not keeping up with the left and right. In my opinion the center is the most important speaker in the 5.1 setup and having a huge center would be great! Just a thought…… \:\)

Chet, if you want a "huge center" you don't have to necessarily restrict yourself to a horizontal configuration. A significant number use regular vertical speakers(e.g., M2, M22, M60, M80)or even two of them, to serve as center channel speakers and obtain the wider and smoother horizontal dispersion which is typical of the vertical configuration.

Yea i have thought about 2 M22's one one each side of the tv. what got me thinking about the horizontal m80 is placement would be easier than using a vertical.. In most situations

Yeah, that's the whole reason horizontal centers were made. I also wonder how much Axiom has experimented with larger horizontal centers. Personally, I think I'll find a way to accommodate a vertical center or centers at some point, though even then I think I'd want something between an M22 and M60.

I'm not sure what a huge vertical center would get you. The reason that some are not satisfied with the VP150 is because of its orientation.

Those centers that rate better have a vertical arrangement of a tweeter & mid flanked by bass drivers for better horizontal dispersion of sound. The downside is you now have a taller center that is more difficult to fit in.

A pair of M3s laid down end to end works nicely.

True.... however i don't want a vertical center.... ;\)

Thank you! Thank you very much... grin

I do have some great idea's laugh
