I suspect the difference between these two configurations would be a little fuller sound in the high and mid and lower mid range spectrum with the M60 perhaps with some redundancy that may prove to be richer(that's not a necessarily bad thing) whereas with M22's there would be no overlap and most likely a cleaner and possibly brighter forward sounding mid range and highs with very clean bass. I'm a classical listener and am unsure which would give be the most satisfaction....I'm thinkin M60's with an EP 350. Any opinions?

Lee, I wouldn't expect that there'd be any respect in which the M60s would be "fuller" except in the lower bass, together with an ability to play slightly louder with low distortion. As Alan has reported on more than one occasion, in blind listening tests with the low-bass factor equalized with a sub there's almost no audible difference up to quite high listening levels.

I also listen almost entirely to classical music and the combination of the M22s with the EP500 leaves nothing to be desired. A bigger speaker isn't "fuller"(whatever that means); accurate is accurate.
So in your estimation John and apparently others there is no advantage to M60's vis a vis M22's specifically with the EP350. However if the M60's were to stand alone you think the M60's would perform demonstratively better especially with it's inherent superior bass. My understanding is that the M60'd do very well without a sub except in the most demanding lower frequency levels.

When I first started to make comparisons, I could hear a difference from M22/sub vs. M80/sub, but recently during some more testing there wasn't as much difference, I suspect the first round findings were due to poor positioning of the M22's.

I still like to think that there is a difference and with my recent amp testing I can say for certain, in my room, the M80s/no sub, sounded better to me than the M22/sub combo did when the speakers were run with the A1400-8.

Yeah Lee, at reasonable sound levels I'd think that on a subless comparison that the only significant factor would be the low bass.

I think you've got it right. I did a proper, switched, comparison of the M22+ EP350 vs the M60 at Axiom. They were almost identical in sound except the lower bass the EP350 delivered.
