Hi: I'm considering switching from my Panasonic to a ps3 to play games on my tv(plasma). I have a few questions regarding video and audio quality

1) Watching blu-ray's which player will reproduce the "best" pic?

2) How good is the ps3 at up converting DVD’s?

3) Audio quality through the ps3 again good/bad quality?

Thanks for the help.Any other advice will be greatly appreciated

PS3 is great for BR. Up to the last generation of BR players, the PS3 was way ahead in many respects.

For video, I think you can get better, but not better value. For sound, you need to make sure you have all the right do-dads to get uncompressed TrueHD etc, but other here can make sure you have that right. (I'm still in DD land.)

BR picture = Fabulous!

Sound = Fabulous! (and it will now process All the new HD formats for you if your receiver is not compatible.)

Upconverting = Good. However, I am convinced that my old HD Toshiba player does such excellent upconverting that it limits me to saying that the PS3 is "good" instead of "Fabulous" in comparison.

The game controller for a remote takes some getting used to but there are now lots of inexpensive products to cure that.

Streaming music and video from a PC is another feature that I have really come to appreciate.

Oh, and I even play games on it. Who knew it could do that?
