Finally got my Axioms wired up yesterday. WOW, I'm really impressed. Ran Audyssey and watched a couple of movies. WOW.
(moving up from infinity SST system, bought them 2 weeks before I found Axioms In/On wall series)

Not much music yet!

2-W22s, 1-W150, 2-QS4s and I have an existing old 10" JBL sub (for now) Room 11'x 10.75' D x 8' H

So this morning I read every word in my confuser (Onkyo manual) for the second time and well, I still need help. Have seen some of this in the forum before, but did searches and can't find it again.

I'll start with speaker and AVR setup. (and leave audio formats and audio settings for another post , new to getting into the audio details ).

I went into my AVR setup this morning and here are the settings after running Audyssey ( I don't know anything about this stuff)

(My sub has Low Pass, High Pass and Phase. I set low pass and high pass at the lowest 60, phase at 0 Volume at 10 oclock per ALan's article)

So should I leave these setting or changes some? If so, which ones to what, and if you don't mind why for the change so I can learn.

Is 6 ohms the highest number you can go to? If it has an 8 ohms setting, use that. The rest of that, I'm going to assume is correct--although I miiight play around with bumping the crossover for the fronts to 90 or 100Hz.

Everything sounds ok, assuming you ran Audyssey correct from all the different positions in the room, with no room noise.

Well .... sort of .... No room noise(or house noise, cell phone, etc.)

But my mic placement was limited to just the primary seat spot. My AVR is in a rack across the house, Between the mic cord and the one 25' extention i just happened to have laying around, I could get to the main seat (mine!) but couldn't get much further.

I'm going to pick up another extension cable and re-run it soon.

You might want to search or post over in the Audyssey forum at AVS about using an extension on the mic cable. AFAIK each mic is calibrated for it’s specific receiver so I’m not sure extending the cable might not have some effect on it’s performance. Might not but doesn’t hurt to be sure.

Good thought, I'll do that. That would be a Bi**h to have to pull the receiver and temp wire in wall speakers and reconnect everythiny afterwards to Run Audyssey. Hope the AVS Audyssey boys are forgiving. "I've heard tales of that thread" I was just in there today

I did a couple of rooms like this. You have to place the AVRs locally if you want to run Audyssey.....if you are using speaker wires through volume controls then back to a centralized location, splice into the volume control and attach all your speakers to the AVR in room for testing and setup.


Think I'll just enjoy my speakers for awhile and then decide if I want to "setup locally"

As long as you don’t say anything less than ecstatically glowing about Audyssey’s performance you might get out alive with the answer you need.

In fairness AV123 fanboys were way worse over their back before their problems.

Thanks for the quote that’s good info. I suspected it would be susceptible to cable length at some point just not how far before I became an issue.

I just snuck in the back door got what I came for and snuck back out.
