looking for upgrade of my 6 year old onkyo tx sr700
currently have epic 80 >6.1 less sub(using velodyne sub)have ps3 fat for blu-ray and gaming, bell 9220 hd pvr and optoma dlp projector(1080i) don`t really need video upscaling, but my room is large and odd shaped(22`by 30`),so advanced Audyssey room acoustic correction or something equal to would be a must
50/50 music/hometheatre....i also found my onkyo a little bright for 2 channel music but still nice sounding overall(looking @ hk avr 3600 right now but they seem to have a lot of issues).also not opposed to a good refurb.....i live in canada
thanks in advance

I would go with Denon or Onkyo myself, but most of the AVR's in this price range are quite capable.

The new SR 706 is right in that range. I don't know what Dennon fits in there. Check out features and figure out what you need/want.

The 2310 is in the $900 range from what I've seen locally.

I'm still quite happy with my "old" Denon 3808. You may be able to still find them new in the box for about $800. I usually feel the need to buy the newest, greatest thing, but I really don't want to part with this AVR. The thing just works without every giving me trouble, unlike the rest of my crap.

I'm very pleased with my denon receiver. In the past if you call the folks at 6ave.com they offer pretty competitive prices, especially for the denon models. Several of us around here got the 3808 for about $1000-$1100 when the MSRP was $1599-$1699 not long after it was released. I'm not too familiar with denons current models but I'd find one that was a little over your budget and ask the folks at 6asve what their best price is.

ya Id say Yamaha RX-V1900/RX-V3900/HTR-6290, Denon 3310/990, or maybe an Onkyo. Someone posted in the home theatre section here that they saw US Bestbuy had Yamaha RX-V3900 for $760, thats a steal.
