So, having recently bought a Macbook (I have historically been a PC guy) I wanted to rip a couple of cd's to flac this past weekend. That was when I realised to my horror good ol' EAC doesn't run on Mac . Since I don't currently have Windows capability on my Mac, I am looking for advice. Any other Mac users out there have recommendations? Thanks in advance!

XLD is a free program that I use to rip to flac on my mac. It can also encode to many other formats like wav, mp3, etc. It can do multiple formats at once too. Search around for a tutorial on the proper settings. But if you can't find one, it's pretty easy to configure on your own. The only downside is that it can't burn disc from a .cue sheet like EAC. As far as I know, there are currently no programs for mac that can burn non-compliant .cue sheets like EAC. I use VMware Fusion to run Windows XP so that I can burn using EAC. Hope this helps.

xACT is a good program that support many lossless compression methods, FLAC included.

xACT is a very good program. I used it before switching to XLD.

Thanks guys, I'll give those a try. I did some more searching and uncovered another one called Max. Any experience with that one?

What do you know? I actually have Max on my Mac, even though I've never used it.

Looks like it'll do the job nicely.
