Hi, everyone. I just replaced my Denon 3808CI with the replacement (though lighter weight) 4310. I am noticing that I have to turn the volume up more for the same sources I had with the 3808. I used to have Directv at about-28 and now on some channels have had to go as high at -10! Should I worry about this? I am surprised that the difference is so great. I have done the complete Audyssey setup, by the way, and use M80s, VP150 QS8s and rears. Is there any harm running the amp to this level? Just doesn't seem right. Of course, since I have a separate phono preamp, that plays at totally higher volumes on the dial. Thanks for input.

oops - M22s are the rears that make the 7.1 channels and EP500 for sub. Had all exact stuff with 3808.

There's no harm in the numbers on the dial being higher, as long as the unit's output capability isn't being exceeded.

Likely, the input pads are differently. The problem with them being set lower is that you're running the preamp levels a bit lower, and, theoretically, the extra power amp "volume" that you're applying might have a bit more background noise.
