1. Please someone who has it advise if the dimensions are in fact identical to M80:
Dimens. H W D (inches): 39.5" x 9.25" x 17"
2. Does anyone think that if this center speaker was supported underneath by just an inch inward at each side that, over time, it would bow downward?
I can’t confirm the dimensions but would say that yes over time it will bow the question is over what amount of time. One way mitigate this might be to flip it over periodically. I don’t think it would matter which side is up so if you flipped it ever month or so it might not be an issue.
If there’s something for it to rest on at the ends what’s preventing you from running a support across and under the speaker?
Hi Bluray,
The vertical orientation of the front and rear sides of the speaker provide all the strenght to keep the VP180 in perferct shape for ever even if it was supported only at each end.
The precise dimensions in mm are :
length : 1000 (39.37")
depth : 415.670 (16.36")(without the magnetic grille installed)
Height in front : 232.651 (9.159")
Height in the back : 180.893 (7.122")
Hi bluray,
I would second JC's judgement that the construction and design of the VP180 is sufficiently rigid that no bowing of the enclosure would occur over time when it's supported at each end.
Regards,
Alan
