Hi Gang,
I need a recommendation for a round & recessed in-ceiling speaker to play surround duty. I honestly don't have another option as this is for living room (wife's domain) and she's already kindly offered up space for M60's up front and a 350 sub.
So - please help with suggestions. I enjoy music, so am looking for something that won't pull down the quality of the M60's as I experiment with music in the round... But budget's also important.
Thanks in advance,
Scott
Paradigm in general has a pretty good reputation and I have had favourable experience with some of their on-wall solutions. Try this
link for a starting point.
Thanks for the quick response guys... to clarify budget, I think I'm looking to spend less than about $200 each... I believe that knock's Paradigm, and the unique JBL out of contention...
I think it comes down to:
In-ceiling, quality sound, inexpensive. Pick two.
If you're looking for sub-$200 in-ceiling speakers, just pick a pair. There's not much to differentiate them in that price range.
These at least have a swiveling tweeter:

I think I'm generally with Chris on this.
I'd consider the following
Monoprice for $46/pairHome Theater Direct for $129/pair or their
budget models for $79/pair
Dayton/PE for $100/pairEmotiva for $127/pairNo experience except as a web-shopper. Good luck! Please give us your review!
I did go back and forth a few times with the NHT guys via e-mail; those are on my list. My budget is $200 PER speaker so those multi-tweeter units (and the upgraded ones with aluminum woofer) would be in budget adn are on myu short list...
I also like Martin Logan's helo - but they are slipping out of budget unless can find some used.
I can't speak for other brands mentioned already but I would think that Paradigm in-ceiling speakers would be a good match for Axioms and they can be found within your budget....
6th Ave Electronics.

I've installed the Aperions. Pretty good IMHO.
I recently put some Monoprice in-walls in my family room and they are just outstanding speakers for the money. Far better than anything else I listened to at Best Buy that were 4 times or more the price. I got the 8 inch 3-way for around $89/pr. I wouldn't hesitate to install their in-ceilings. Don't let the low price scare you away! I also bought all my cable and wire from Monoprice for my basement pre-wire (soon to be hooked up to an Axiom system!). Again, outstanding quality at a ridiculously low price.
