Is it true that the run lengths of speaker wires should be as close as possible (for example, the runs to the rear surrounds)? What difference, if any, will this make?

I ask because the one of my runs to the surrounds will probably be a different length than the other one since I have to lay the wire around the front of our fireplace.

The difference in length has to be HUGE to be able to hear the difference.

I do not remember the exact number, but I know it is in at least the hundreds of feet.

Curtis is right, MC. It would be essentially impossible to have the length different enough so that a time delay could be heard. The longer wire shouldn't be longer than the suggested maximum length for a wire of that gauge, but there's no reason to worry about having both the same length.

Here's a table showing the maximum length for various gauges of wire.

Indeedy. It's just another way the wire manufacturers try to take your money. Which should go into more speakers. Axiom speakers. (And that FREE advertising is why Amie should send me a pair of M22s).
