Wondering how the m80 is for "back ground" music? We enjoy "dinner" music as well as rocking out.
Thanks

The M80s should impress you at any volume. You'll be itching to turn them up whenever you can, though. smile

OK, bad form. We aren't supposed to hijack until the second page.

To the OP, I have a Baroque Cello disc that I have listened to while having dinner with my brother. He was amazed at how it sounded like a live performance even at levels where we could comfortable talk over the music.

The M80s are incredibly detailed, even at low volumes. You will be pleased by their performance.

That's funny!

Oh, you were serious?

I have never heard speakers that sound so good over all volume levels as my M80s. Truly outstanding in this regard. You will not be disappointed.

That was one of the things that I found better over the M60s

Well, somebody has to keep the neighbourhood from going to hell on the first page...

To the OP in case you haven't kept track, the M80s are great at all volume levels and I have said many times that the low volume detail is their strong suit.

Thanks for all the feedback.
I just placed my order for the m80.

I'm sure you won't regret it.

I've had M80s now for about 2-3 months and every day when i listen to music i can't help but think "what definition! what incredible detail!
what is most wonderful is the definition in the high frequencies;
the cymbals and brushes on cymbals are super good, all detailed and smooth at the same time.
same for the mids, very detailed, smooth and linear.
can't say anything about the lows, as i use a sub all the time.

I too recently bought the M80's for low to moderate volume levels with the the accompanying detailed and full range sound

I too recently bought the M80's for low to moderate volume levels with the accompanying detailed and full range sound that was lauded on these pages. For me, like Peter indicated, the sound makes me want more and thus to turn up the volume. I have found over time (about 6 months) that there is for me a sweet spot that fully bring these speaker to life...above and beyond their lower volume performance. It just happens to be a notch louder than the volumes I usually listen to, however it such a joy to hear them replicate an orchestra performance where the sound stage is
three-dimensional and the instruments sound very true.....Lee

you mean the "As if i was there" feeling, right?
that's the only "good" way and the way it was meant to be since the invention of record/playback.

the first time they recorded an opera singer and listened to the playback at the studio, someone (can't remember who) said something like: "this is a perfect reproduction, i can't see how it could be improved".

The expected delivery is the 29th. This will leave me about 2wks home alone to listen at what ever volume I wish. Once I'm back to work, my family will be home most of the time I listen, and they don't like it as loud as I usually do.

I've been reading about these for years wanting to try them
After procrastinating all this time I'm really looking forward to giving these m80's good initial "work out"

Listen to m80's at lower volumes quite frequently with no issues here.
