One of my friends who owns a pair of M80ti wants to sell them for $400. Is this good price for the pair considering they are old(about 7years?) I know this guy take great care of his HT system. What are the major difference between M80ti and M80 v3?
AFAIK, over the years Axiom has improved the sound of their speakers, ie crossover and drivers which lead to the V2 and then V3 designation. On the cosmetic side, the V3s have all white drivers as opposed to black and white and also have magnetic grills. Although I have never heard the Tis, I would expect to be differences but however I would expect these differences to be subtle. Did you hear the speakers? Did you like how they sound? If they are in great shape, I would think $400 is a good price.
And yes, welcome!
Thanks for the input. I think ti is v2,,, I'm not sure though...
I think the Ti suffix was added after the first tweeter upgrade. Late Ti models would have the V2 upgrades, as Axiom uses more of rolling improvement system, rather than hard cuts between models. But the V2 name is for the collection of upgrades over the original Ti model.
I'd say no matter what the series, it's a very good price if you know they've been taken care of....
Welcome to the forums, by the way.
. . . I would think $400 is a good price.
Hi, you will not find a better speaker for $400.00; don't hesitate !
On a related note, what is the practical lifespan of speakers these days?
It used to be that the foam surrounds would go kaput after 10-15 years, but those are made of a more durable material now.
Jc is right. Grab them!!! M80ti, V2 or V3, the difference is not that great. The M80ti is a great speaker. You can buy a pair of top of the line Axiom towers for less than the cost of a pair of M22 book shelf speakers ... don't wait.
I know I'm coming late to the party but hopefully you jumped on the m80's for this price. I have the original set of M80's and I have no desire to upgrade because frankly, they are that damn good.
