I have been researching HT for a few months and narrowed my speakers to Axiom. I couldn't resist the M80s in the outlet so I placed my order. I am wondering if the M80s may be too much. My room is 16x18 and has an angled ceiling that goes from 8 - 26ft.

I originally planned on buying the M60s, VP150, QS8s, and a VTF-2 sub in steps. I broke the budget last month buying a Pioneer Elite 630HD and a DV45A. I was waiting for my rebate to place my order but did not want to pass up on the outlet deal. I don't have a A/V receiver either, I am using a Carver system that I bought over 10 years ago. I am looking at the Rotel RSX-1055.

Is 75W enough for the M80s or should I go with the M60s?

Remeber, the M80s are MORE SENSITIVE than the M60s, so they take LESS POWER to drive. 75 watts is plenty, as long as your amp can handle 4 ohms. Hey, worst comes to worst, you return them. I'm pretty sure you won't...

Not exactly true. While they are more sensitive, the fact that they are 4 ohm speakers mean they will draw much more power out of the amp. As long as the amp is capable of driving 4 ohm speakers, you'll be ok.

Given that your room is nearly 5000 cu. ft., the M80 may well be the right choice.

I plan on buying a Rotel RSX-1055 that should handle 4ohm pretty good. Thanks for confirming my decision to buy the M80s.

Every once in a while I read a post here that reminds me that a lot of you are Canadian.

Too much is not an American concept.

HAHAHA... There is a Japanese proverb: "Too much is as bad as too little." But I've been Texanized enough to entirely disregard it.

It's amazing you survived the culture shock!
