Looking to raise my M60's by about 12 inches, and I'm not quite sure what the best way would be to go about this. Is there a low-rise stand that anyone could recommend?

I didn't find much when I was looking around. I avoided the problem by picking up some bookshelf speakers and making stands for them, but I just picked up a pair of M60v4's and might end up lifting them as well.

Couple of things to consider :

1. Tilting the speakers up a bit (eg 1x2 under front feet) accomplishes most of what you get from raising them without affecting LF response

2. Once I pulled my M60's far enough from the wall I no longer had to lift/tilt them to get the sound I wanted.

Of course neither of these may apply to you, so if I find anything good in the stand department I'll post back.

My next option was going to be checking Ikea for footstools

The M60 as well at 80,1000 all have screw in feet on the bottom of them that can be replaced by spikes.

I have a set of LFR1100 speakers that I really don't know if I need to make them taller, but are a bit wobbly as width to height goes.
I am in the process of making my own set of outriggers from some nice dense wood that I have. I am using some nice african black and white wood that I have laying around, but did consider picking up a chunk of ebony and turning some disk feet for it on the lathe.. Being that I am a woodworker it just seemed to make sense.

12" is quite a bit of a raise, and I would suggest if you make a stand of some sort that you look to match the holes for the feet with a set of holes in the stand and bolt them together so they act as one.

For behind a screen wall? Cinderblocks.

Just thought, if exposed in room you can wrap fancy tiles of your choice on cinderblocks with pl400. Trying to think of quick, easy and most of all cheap fixes fer ya.

I used conderblocks for lots of DIY stuff over the years. They make awesome stands for large fish tanks. With a little craftiness, you can disguise them so they arent so industrial.

Thanks, everyone. I'm looking to raise the M60's because I'm going to be placing couches sideways along either wall in a home theatre room (with cinema seating on risers facing the screen and the couches running along either side). This would have the effect of blocking the lowest part of the speakers, unless they were elevated 10-12 inches. Kind of a weird setup.

You need to think more along the line of where do the tweeter and midrange hang in the room setup. The larger woofer is very efficient on putting the not so directional sound into the room. So line of sight to the woofer is not as important as not having the mids and tweets blocked.

If you raise the speakers up too high, then you might throw off the upper range of sound and have a larger determent to the sound you are getting.

Very good point, Matt. I'll play around with small pieces of wood to determine exactly what would be best before I invest in any sort of stand buy / build. In the current setup, without stands, only the port and lowest woofer is obscured (and not directly, as the couches are about 20 inches away).
