Hello fellow audioholics

I currently have

M80 v3
Vp180 v3
Qs8 v3
Denon 3311ci reciever running vp180 and qs8s
Xpa-2 running the m80s
And a funky waves 15" sub

Awaiting. Arrival

M100 v4 hp
Vp180 v4 hp

Question

With the new speakers and regards to amps.
Do I buy a mono channel comparable to the xpa-2 to run it or do I get a 3 channel to run the m100s and vp180 switching the xpa to the qs8s?

Any ideas or information is welcome and greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance boys and girls

Dustin, you haven't mentioned anything which would indicate a need for new amplification. The M80s and M100s are identical in sensitivity and likewise for the VP180s. Therefore, your present setup should be fine.

I've always felt the center was under powered. My denon gets very hot just running the center and surrounds even with fans on it. So this was an upgrade that has been put off for awhile

it is very understandable why the receiver would be getting hot with the VP180 as it's spending quite a bit of time around the 4ohm mark. These receivers though they say can support 4ohm, are not in any way designed for the amount of power that gets used. They do not have any real heatsync's inside nor the temperature management to adequately do the job.

You will be far better off to find an inexpensive amp used that can bridge and classed to run down to 4ohm for your center channel.

I have personally given up on trying to run a receiver as they just don't make them at all like they use to. You might not get any better sound running an external amp, but it will run cooler and won't simply fry the other components in the receiver.

I gotcha. Would it be beneficial to get a monochannel just for the center say an xpa-1l or better to get the 3 channel (xpa -3) for the surrounds aswell even though I know there load on the receiver is fone
