Hi, well I must say, I still love my Axiom set-up! Problem is I have all this great sound hooked up to a 27" TV! lol... Needless to say, the BIG sound doesn't fit the tiny screen. The family has opted for a Projector TV, as it will be in the theater room of the basement. Only one local place sells them around here, and I really do not trust them by past experience. I found my speakers here, so my hopes were you all might be able to help with the TV now! I believe we are in the $1000-$3500 range. Thanks a bunch!

Oh, I don't think Peter and I deserve to be mentioned in that sentence along with Semi_On. He's way, way ahead of us (in a good way!)

Sorry, I write in binary, so it takes a little longer

Wanted to say Thanks all... But also, I have read a few posts from you saying to wait a bit to see prices fall. Is there a time of year when you generally see larger drops in prices of these FP's? Like X-Mas time or after the first of the year? If so, this might allow my Father to get a nicer Projector then he is currently looking. I am sure he would wait if I could tell him a time to start watching for dropping prices! Thanks a bunch

You know what they say,

There are 10 types of people in the world: those who understand binary, and those who don't.

Then there's the other one...

There are 11 types of people in the world:

Those who understand binary, those who don't, and those who think they do.

Oak,

I don't see a particular time of the year when the FP prices drop universally. It's just like computers and other digital gears -- you wait longer and will surely find latest-greatest-cheapest models. In return, you will surely lose time of enjoyment, which can be priceless.

At least be aware of the officially announced upcoming models (such as the Panasonic and Sonny models I listed above). But if he wants to start enjoying the FP right now, go get one now and start making a good use of it. There will be no buyers remorse if he does it well-informed...

Oak, that time has came and past. There is a big "expo" for the home theatre world called Cedia, which was earlier this month. Companies release new stuff and lower prices. Not much at all went on this year. I would definitely feel comfortable buying right now. If prices do drop down, not much you can do about it at this point...just the way life goes =)

My 2 cents worth: Buy now if you have the money! The reason for this is simple. There are always going to be new models coming out! So if you are like me and are waiting for the newest model or for the prices to fall you could get trapped in that visious circle. Waiting for a particular model's price to drop into your price range and when it does something new comes out that you gota have, and the cycle starts all over! I started looking at projectors about 2 or 3 years ago (back when the most lumens you could get was 200, and only a handfull of company's made them) and I still havn't got one yet. Now days there are many great projectors out there in all price ranges, for all genre's.

To summarize: Look at the sugested projectors, BUT buy NOW!

Just my opinion
