Rear speakers for Quadraphonic System

I am wondering if qs8's would work well as rear speakers in a quadraphonic system? Or would it be better to match the fronts (M22ti)?

i dont own a quad system,but i would imagine for quad sound you would be better off with matching speakers all around,i lsitened to some dts music recordings on a system with 5 of the same speakers and i liked it better than on my surround setup....ron

Do you mean for music only or do you plan to use them in a HT situation as well? I think that if it is for music only you would be better off matching the M22s. And even if you do plan to use them for HT the M22s still would not be a bad choice.

Just curious, is your receiver(or whatever you use) only capable of quadraphonic sound? It sure would be nice to add a center speaker if you are doing HT and/or multichannel (sacd/dvd-audio) music.

I agree with MWC and its better to match definitely for music...as with HT I would agree too.

Hmm. I don't understand how that would work, under the CD section, that is. He says that the quadraphonic information on Compact Disks is stored at (lol) about 30 kHz, when we all know that CD's are only technically capable of doing 22.05 kHz (Nyquist Theorem at it's simplest), but due to its inefficiencies (from when a wave starts in relation to the sampling), its more like divide by 2.2 instead of 2 to determine the "maximum" useful frequency response (without aliasing). In other words the maximum truly usable frequency that is consistent would be at about a little higher than 20 kHz.

I guess no one else noticed that - huh?

Your mastery of the English language is quite good, but you occasionally slip in an extra article and it makes me smile. I say that with the utmost respect as another person for whom English is not a first language. (Of course, I was 3 when I started learning English, so it doesn't really count.)

pmbuko If I may ask, what is your "first" language then? I know sushi lives in Japan, correct? I remember seeing that said in a thread about where the factory is and Ian mentioning something negative about the Metric Speed Limit, and sushi said that he uses it in Japan.

Polish was my first language. I can still understand it, but I have lost all skills in speaking it.

Sushi lived in Japan. He's now in the wonderful state of Texas. It must have been quite a transition, I'm sure.

Yeah, I lived in Japan until 12 years ago -- I moved to Texas when I was 31 years old. So, English is my second language in every sense. And DJ, the person who "badmouthed" about the metric system was Alan, not Ian.

And yes, Peter, articles are a nightmare for me; the Japanese language has no article. No concept of articles, period. You don't really "count" -- our oldest daughter was 4 when we moved to the US, and her primary language is, by all means, English (100% native). She also speaks in Japanese fluently without any "foreign" accents, but it is definitely her secondary language.
